It's not often damaged or trapped during cleaning, and it's the best at avoiding power cables and other objects in my tests. It's not as reliable in detecting pet waste, or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

While the Anker-owned Eufy has made a name for itself in low-cost robot vacuums it hasn't previously offered an all-in-one model which can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of features that are advanced and can compete with much more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the primary selling point of this machine. Previous Eufy devices have created an outline of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into objects, but the X8's laser mapping technology is more precise. It takes less time to build a comprehensive map of your home and can store multiple maps. This is perfect for multi-floored homes.

The X8 is still a decent vacuum for floors that are not clean, slinging debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with ease. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are very efficient at grabbing edges and corners. It's not the best cat litter picker, though, with our tests showing it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

The basic mopping mode utilizes the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. While this is great for loose spills but you cannot control how much water it uses which can limit its effectiveness on more severe staining. That said, it does an excellent job of picking up pet hair, and has a higher percentage of hair removal than the roborock s7 robot vacuum S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, powerful appliances. It has a beautiful design, a great navigation system, and excellent cleaning power. There are a few niggles in its operation that prevent it from being named the top smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping technology which uses LIDAR to map the space as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once mapped the app allows you to designate virtual no-go zones and preferred areas that the robot will automatically clean. You can also manually change cleaning options, begin cleaning manually, or view a live feed of the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The sensors of the RX2 work well in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. And its sweeping and suction power are top of the line cleaning up surface debris from carpets of medium pile and dust on floors that are unfinished. It's not the most powerful robot on the market. It's not the most efficient climber, and it has problems with transition strips made of metal.

A lot of people purchase a robotic vacuum for the ease of setting a schedule on an app and then forgetting about it for weeks at a time. 4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks like any other, but comes with a few more features and better performance. Its intelligent mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your home, and uses them to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. It can even detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors with a bump detector, and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum away from stairs makes it one of our most flexible vacuums.

It was able to walk over the thick shag carpets and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s, or Roomba 690-). Its navigational skills were impressive as well; its composite score in carpet and bare floors beat out the competition and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded pet hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are less basic than those of the competition's. There is a cleaning button at the top, and you can start it by using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set a schedule for daily or weekly cleans, set areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and check its cleaning history. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. Its rear dust bin is accessible for emptying and removing the filter is just as simple.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a great option if you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that is simple and doesn't have any frills at a low cost. It lacks some of the smart features, such as digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are available in higher-end models, however, if you don't require these features, you can save a little cost with this model.

It also suggests cleaning the dustbin on a regular basis replacing the filters, and changing or washing the brushes when needed.

iRobot Roomba 990

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's pricey but it's an excellent performer and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self-navigation as well as environmental mapping are a joy to behold. It also comes with more advanced automation features than many competitors, such as the ability to set virtual boundary markers through its mobile application. Although the app isn't the most responsive and the 980 can spin a bit when moving over cables, it's still a highly efficient robot vacuum.

One thing we really like about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will then use that information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than other high-end robot vacuums.

Other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes which pick up dirt from carpet and hard floors as well as the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensor helps it navigate through furniture, along edges and on the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It also automatically returns to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharges between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as good as those of other robot vacuums. However, it is a solid and reliable machine that will keep floors clean for a long time. hours.
