Their touch controls are simple to use and easy to navigate. their battery lasts an impressive 30 hours with ANC shut off. They even include an auto-pause feature that shuts off your headphones when they're removed from your head in order to save battery.

The WH1000XM5 can be used with Sony Headphones Connect, which offers a variety of features that can be utilized to customize the audio experience. The app is able to monitor your location and alter ambient sound features according to the environment you are in. The microphone is integrated for hands-free calls. The Sony WH-1000XM5 are compatible to play music using Bluetooth or with an electrical connection via the included cable. They support aptX, aptX HD and aptX Adaptive codecs that play high quality audio via Bluetooth.

Similar to the XM4 The WH-1000XM5 is lightweight and comfortable, with a a well-padded headband and ear cups. These headphones are comfortable to wear and can be worn for long periods. They're also great for long flights and commutes. They offer excellent noise cancellation performance that block out the majority of background noise, but without sacrificing clarity and clarity. The Sony WH-1000XM5 offer decent bass for closed-back headphones. They provide a great soundstage, with the clear distinction between vocals and instruments.

The low latency is a major benefit. The lag is so minimal that it's almost imperceptible and they can be used for gaming on the go. These are not the best for competitive video gaming but they're excellent for those who want to utilize them for media consumption or to make hands-free calls.

Sony is very committed to incorporating smart features into its products and the WH1000XM5 is not an exception. The active noise cancellation is among the best I've heard and they come with a suite of smart functions to enhance the overall listening experience. Sony's DSEE Extreme Engine upscales compressed audio to a near-hi-res format. They're compatible with Sony's LDAC technology which streams music with higher bitrates via Bluetooth.

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Bowers & Wilkins flagship headphones that are the PX7 S2, have consistently appeared on the top lists of wireless headsets since the introduction of the first-generation PX7, in 2015. They are in the same class as Sony WH1000XM5 or Bose's QuietComfort. The PX7 S2 is the latest version that takes the first generation of headphones up a notch with a boost in ANC performance and a refreshed design.

In the earcups, the 40mm bio cellulose drivers are designed to be angled so that they point straight towards your eardrums, delivering an audio experience that is more intimate than other closed-back headphones. It's a bold statement however, one that the PX7 S2 is able to deliver on. Vocals cut through clearly, and bass is a deep and rumbly when it's needed to be.

The PX7 S2 is also very good at voice calls. It provides crisp, clear sound that does not drown out your voice. The PX7 S2 is also able to provide a quick charge, which can bring you back fully charged in just two hours. They also work with hi-res music, thanks to the aptX adaptive Bluetooth codesc that allow them to play audio with 24-bit quality.

For most listeners, the most important upgrade is the enhanced noise-canceling and audio quality. In our tests, the PX7 S2 eliminated nearly all of our simulated aircraft cabin noise with impressive efficiency and performed exceptionally when we performed Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus from his Grosse Messe, demonstrating excellent insight into the shifting dynamics between the solo voice, wind trio and orchestral accompaniment.

The PX7 S2s aren't just noise-cancelling, but they include a variety of features that make them highly comparable to other top-rated headphones. They're wireless headphones and come with Bluetooth multipoint support, meaning that you can pair two devices simultaneously. They also have an inbuilt microphone that allows hands-free calls using your phone's assistant. They're also incredibly robust, with premium-feeling and durable construction that will last for years of continuous usage.

They're not perfect, but they are. The clamp force of our test models were slightly higher than we'd prefer and they didn't have as many app features as other models. But these are minor issues. The PX7 S2s is a fantastic wireless headset that beats out other models in its class. It's hard to imagine a competitor that can beat them.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless

Focal Bathys is a great option for audiophiles who appreciate high-fidelity and are searching for an ANC headphone that is wireless. They're the French audio company's first ANC headphones that use Bluetooth and they offer incredible audio quality in both Bluetooth mode and when connected to an device via USB for true hi-fi listening at up to 24 bit/192kHz (the headphones are also capable of blocking external sound with its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning, with their glossy finish and swooping curvatures that are similar to Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear Headphones Shop. They also have premium materials like aluminum and magnesium for an extremely sturdy build that is comfortable, solid, and worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones offer a crisp, lively sound signature. They easily outperform consumer ANC devices with similar prices like the Sony XM5/5 or Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode lets them be pushed further and makes them an excellent option for true hifi listeners.

The Focal and Naim app allows users to adjust the headphone's playback controls and bluetooth head phones pairing preferences. Users can choose between quiet or soft intensities for ANC, set the brightness of the LEDs that are on the ear cups, and adjust the settings for EQ. The app is basic but offers enough functionality to be worth the cost.

The only flaw is the active noise cancellation, which doesn't measure up to the competition. The headphone doesn't cut out all of the ambient noise as the most rated XM5 or AirPods Max, and its quality of treble isn't as good, with a muffled mid to high frequency that impedes the sound of instruments and vocals.

The Focal Bathys headphones aren't the most portable. They're not ideal for travel since their ear cups don't fold, and they weigh more than other models. The Bathys are best used at home for long listening sessions, or as a reference headset for audio engineering. Despite their size and bulk, the Bathys are extremely comfortable to wear for extended periods of time.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WHCH720N headset is a excellent pair of wireless over ear headsets at a reasonable price. They feature a great noise-cancelling system that does an excellent job of reducing ambient noise, making them ideal for commuters and travellers. They also have an appealing design that reflects premium quality, thanks to their durable construction and attractive matte finish.

They have a similar look to Sony's 1000X and XB910N earphone models. They have a slim headband with the typical ear cup hinges, and a durable plastic build. They're lightweight and comfortable to wear, although they're a bit compressed for my liking. In the box, they come with a USB-C port for charging as well as an 3.5mm connector and a decent length cable. They support multipoint Bluetooth pairing, which means you can connect to two devices at the same time should you choose to.

In my tests, the CH720N's hybrid technology for noise cancellation did an excellent job of reducing ambient noise. There were only a few noticeable blips when walking through Waterloo Station and London Victoria. The sound-silencers did not block every sound in the vicinity however, they struggled with low-frequency sounds such as the rumbling engine sound of buses and trains.

The streaming of music via the CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth, and it exhibited a low level of harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and discovered that they handled the intricate interplay between instruments with ease. It did an impressive job of controlling the bass in rock tracks while keeping the focus of the mix.

The Sony Headphones Connect App allows users to modify the CH720N's multipoint connectivity and ANC settings to your liking. You can also choose from a range of audio presets. You can also use the app to activate DSEE which boosts the quality of compressed content and improves the sound quality.

While the WH-CH720N does not have some of Sony's primetime features compared to the XM5 (such as Speak-to -Chat and Quick Attention) they do have a solid feature set for PS130. 360 Reality Audio, smart controls, and DSEE upscaling feature are all included. The only thing that is not included is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support, which I believe would have been a welcome inclusion.
