In our tests, we observed that the S8 Pro Ultra was able to clean up the majority of the surface litter as well as embedded dust on floors with a medium-pile or bare. The S8 Pro Ultra's cleaning performance isn't quite as good as that of our top choice Roomba's iRobot J7+. However, it's nonetheless a capable and versatile machine that is definitely worth a look.

The app can be used to create a 3D map of your home, set no-go zones, and plan specific cleaning sessions. The app also provides an ongoing log of cleaning times and coverage areas and lets you see the performance of individual rooms and areas. You can even assign a distinct cleaning mode to each area. You can also add voice control to your Echo device or smart speaker if you own one.

2. Roomba j7+ from iRobot

The Roomba j7+ model from iRobot is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a self-emptying robot vacuum that can also mop. This model uses iRobot's Imprint Smart Mapping technology to create a floor plan of your home, ensuring that it can clean up your home efficiently possible. Other features include Dirt Detect to focus on areas that are less clean and Reactive Sensor Technology that helps the robot avoid obstacles that block its path.

Like other iRobot models, the j7+ is set up to start cleaning when you're not there and stop when you return before it's finished. It can be controlled with the iRobot app or through Alexa and Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers. It responds to voice commands better than most competing robots, such as the $599 self emptying Neabot NoMo NoMo N1.

In addition to allowing you to control the robot by smartphone or remote, the iRobot Genius app makes it easy to configure the j7+, establish a schedule, and fine-tune other settings. It will guide new users through the process of onboarding that will aid the robot in determining their space for cleaning and also learn about their home.

The j7+ comes with a larger dustbin than most of the self-emptying robots that we've tested. It can hold more debris but you will still need to empty the bin every seven to eight month (or more often if you have pet hair or any other heavy debris). iRobot sells filters and bags that can be replaced separately.

The j7+ also features a front-facing camera that is supposed to assist the robot in avoiding hazards such as power cords and pet waste. The camera is not as effective in low light therefore you might want to consider a competitor that has superior cameras, such as the Roborock S7 MaxV.

Lastly, I was pleased to discover that the iRobot j7+ automatically emptys its dust bin into the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal when it is docked. This is a major improvement over other models that require you to open manually and empty the bag. It's a minor detail, but one that will help you save time and frustration.

3. Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni

This is enough to mop 400m2. It's designed in a way that it can be refilled and drained without getting wet or touching the pad.

The T10's intelligent mapping technology is one of the features that sets it apart from other robot vacuums. It creates a precise, three-dimensional map showing the plan of your home. This allows the robot to more accurately identify obstacles and adjust its navigation process that improves overall cleaning efficiency.

Its smart features also include a premium microphone that responds to voice commands and the ECOVACS application is simple to use and Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum provides a wide range of adjustable settings. The only drawback is the lack of the remote control. This could be a problem for some.

The T10 OMNI does an excellent job of cleaning pet hair. It was able to remove most of the fur from my carpets after two cleaning cycles, and was even able to navigate around furniture that was blocking its route.

Although it's not as hands-free as the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the T10 Omni is still an excellent choice for those looking for a self-emptying robot mop and vacuum. The mop has the same power as the vacuums and has an attractive design that is superior to Roomba. The T10's clever features are more than enough to make up for the absence of the remote. You can easily start or stop a cleansing cycle, schedule it, and change device settings with the app.

4. Shark ION the XL

Shark's top self-emptying robot vacuum, the ION XL is an excellent option for those who want hands-free cleaning that has an outstanding level of performance. The vacuum comes with large bins that can hold a month's worth of dirt and the base can be set to automatically empty it at the end of every cleaning session for longer-term storage. The ION XL is one of the top robot vacuums that are available for hard and carpeted flooring, and it can also sweep and mop your floors. You can control the robot with an app or voice commands, and you can even create a map of your home and clean each room on demand. The robot is also able to navigate around furniture and traverse stairs and carpeted rooms easily.

I tested the IONXL using our standard test for debris in a family room and kitchen with hardwood flooring and area rug. It was a great job vacuuming and clearing debris, pet hair, and even some of the more stubborn carpet crumbs. It also did a great job in maneuvering around my bar stools and did not bump into them as the iRobot J7+ did in this test. The only downside is that the ION XL is unable to detect toys, cords and shoes that may be in its path so you will have to pre-clean your house before using this vacuum to avoid these things.

The ION XL is not as sophisticated as the iRobot J7+, but it's a good alternative for those who don't want to spend more than $500 on a robot cleaner. It is better than the less expensive RoboVac 11S in most ways it is also easier to maintain and incurring lower recurring costs. It is also better at cleaning floors with no carpet and removing pet fur, but not as effective on carpets with a low or higher-pile carpet.

It's not as sturdy however it's an excellent choice. The ION XL has a large bin capacity, it is controlled via an app and voice command, and it is easy to keep up with maintenance. It also comes at a reasonable price.
