The MOMENTUM series of headphones from Sennheiser is among the most well-known active noise cancelling (ANC) headphones. The MOMENTUM 4 Wireless headphones are a great alternative for ANC headphones. They have a good track record and come at a reasonable price.

The ear cups come with an impressive amount of padding and are designed to sit comfortably around your ears. The top of the band that wraps around your neck, is encased in soft leatherette. I found it comfortable to wear for long periods of time and the band has enough give to allow for glasses which is a nice touch.

In contrast to some rival ANC headphones like unlike other ANC headphones, the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless sound is more balanced than overemphasizing bass or highs. This is a good thing since it offers an even representation of speech and music. They do veer slightly towards the realm of boosting at lower frequencies, but that's a common characteristic of headphones designed for commuters, since outside noise is likely to compete with low-level music and speech.

The MOMENTUM Wireless' noise reduction is excellent similar to other top performers in the ANC category. It's not as good as the top ANC headphones we tested however, it is close. You can also defer projects by two clicks to the next quarter, making them an excellent option for working or at school.

The MOMENTUM Wireless can be connected to an Bluetooth device and you can select from SBC AAC, aptX or codecs. The 3.5mm jack on the headphone can be used to listen to sources without Bluetooth support.

The MOMENTUM Wireless comes with an array of microphones that allow users to make and receive calls. The microphone does a decent job but it's not going provide the best audio quality for phone conversations. The microphone is still superior to those on most entry level headphones.
