The Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair on Hardwood Floors

A high-quality robot vacuum can make a big difference in the elimination of allergens such as pet hair and robot vacuum mop pet hair dust. But not all models are to be the same.

There are a variety of options to choose from for you to choose from, whether you need an animal-friendly vacuum or a robot to complement your other vacuum.

1. Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge

The G30 Edge, the latest model in Eufy’s budget-friendly series of robotic vacuum cleaners is the most current model. The G30 Edge is a shining black vacuum cleaner with blue and rose gold accents. It's akin to it's a smartphone. It's easier to use than previous models and comes with features such as BoostIQ which automatically increases suction power for better cleaning on all surfaces. It also employs intelligent navigation to avoid repeating the same areas repeatedly, which is a common issue when using bounce-navigation systems.

It does an excellent job of picking up pet hair and crumbs off hard floors, but lags behind the best models in scooping up flour on carpet. In our tests, it missed 74% of the dust on hard floors, and 26% on carpet.

A feature that makes the G30 Edge stand out is its ability to map your home with an electronic map that is available in the app. This allows it to keep track of the rooms it's cleaned and avoid going back to them. This is a major problem for robots that are more basic and require the traditional magnetic taps to mark no go zones.

The G30 Edge also has other features. It has an "Find My Robot" mode that blasts out loud music until it is located, and a directional keypad that allows you manually move the robot. It also comes with an auto return function that sends it back to its charging station when the battery is empty which is a crucial safety feature.

2. Neato Botvac D-Shape

The Neato Botvac D shape robot is a robust machine that comes with a long list of intelligent features. It can clean floors efficiently and climb up high-pile carpets effortlessly. The app comes with advanced features such as boundary lines and remote access to the robot as it is operating and a host of other options.

This model is the newest in a long-running line of robots manufactured by Neato. It features a unique "D' shape when viewed above. This design offers several advantages, including improved corner-cleaning and a bigger bin of dust than the majority of models. The D-shape design also allows the robot to reach under furniture better than robots with a circular design.

When the first cleaning cycle when it is first started, the D-Shape will stop briefly to make use of spinning infrared lasers to look over and evaluate the area. Then, it will work in a grid, gradually moving from one area to the next until the entire floor is covered. This method is more thorough and efficient than competitors using a random approach.

The design of the D-Shape allows it to have a massive, 700ml dust bin as opposed to 400-600ml for robots of the same price. This increased capacity means that you will have to empty the dust bin less often, which will save you time and effort. The D-Shape features a flat side at the front that allows to maneuver around obstacles like chairs and tables. In our tests, we observed that the D-Shape was stuck under a four-legged stool as well as under an exposed electrical cord. However it was able to get out of the way each time.

3. Roomba I3+ EV

The Roomba i3+ EVO is a great option for pet owners. It works well on hard floors and does a great job of cleaning up debris such as pet hair, cereal, rice and other small particles. It has issues with carpet however, it is still superior than other robots in this price range. The Roomba i3+ EVO also does very well at moving between floor types and doesn't get hung on transitions like older generations can. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes flex to adjust to different flooring and prevent getting caught in pet hair.

The i3+ EVO's obstacle-avoiding capability isn't as effective as some of the other robots we tested, and it frequently encountered objects during our tests such as handbags shoes, and pet toys before continuing its course. It also had trouble dealing with coarse kosher salt, which it blew over and around instead of picking up.

The i3+ EVO comes with a variety of features that make it worth the extra cost compared to other Roomba models, including self-emptying bins and advanced control via the app. You can schedule cleanings and create custom routines. You can also create no-go zones to prevent the robot from entering certain areas. Its intelligent scheduling can suggest additional cleanings during high allergy times and based on your regular routine. Its navigation system isn't reliable and can cause vacuums to be erratic patterns, such as zigzags or diagonals instead of parallel to walls.

4. Shark AI Self-Empty, XL

With its precise mapping technology, this intelligent robot knows your home better than you do. It comes with dual brushes that adapt to different types of floors and are able to avoid tangling. This makes it the perfect option for homes with pets. The app allows you to control the Linsar Robot Vacuum: 2-in-1 with Powerful Suction, or activate it with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. The dock, which is dubbed Omni, automates tasks like refilling and cleaning the Robot Vacuum Mop Pet Hair's water tank and debris bin, emptying it and charging and drying the mop pads.

It's a great price. The Shark AI Self-Empty XL is cheaper than a lot of other robots we've reviewed and yet comes with advanced features such as mapping and a self-emptying bin that holds a good amount of dust. We tested it in a home with a mix between bare flooring and carpeting with low pile and found it to move and clean extremely well, even navigating corners. The vacuum does a great job of picking up pet fur from carpeting. However it's not as much power as our top choices.

However the Roborock S4 Max is better built, takes much less time to recharge than the Shark, and provides a wider range of automated and scheduling options and support for no-go zones. Shark is still a good option if you're looking for something less expensive or prefer to manage and control your system using your phone instead of a remote.

5. Bissell SpinWave Wet and Dry

It's not easy to find a robot that combines mopping and vacuuming however this one does it. Its two-tank system can effectively vacuum or mop with the push of the button. In our tests it was able easily switch between surfaces and was great at picking up pet fur from hardwood floors and carpets. It also has an edge-sweeping brush to remove pet hair from walls and baseboards, plus the ability to schedule it to your schedule.

This robot is a great choice if you're looking for an affordable model with some extra features. It was able to negotiate obstacles with ease during our testing and is controlled via an app or voice. It even has scheduled cleaning and has a huge dust bin to catch messes before they become full. The only downside is that it can take up to 166 minutes to finish its job however, it's still faster than other robots we've tested.

The front-facing camera on this robot lets you to track the cleanliness of your home's cleanliness by using a map app. It's particularly helpful if you're trying to find something specific or your children spill glitter from your decorations on your floors. It will save you a lot of stress by finding that lost item immediately. The lithium batteries that are fade-free can last for up to 130 minutes on a single charge.

6. Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 is an upscale-looking robot that provides excellent cleaning. It does a great job moving its self and can get under low furniture without becoming stuck. It is also suitable for rugs and carpets with a low pile. However, it could be caught in rug tassels, and may have trouble finding its way through tight spaces such as corners. It also has trouble picking up pet hair on any surface.

The 694 is still better than its rivals despite the lack of features. It managed to grab a perfect score in our cereal-carpet test and passed our cat-litter test with just a few scattered pieces of litter left behind. It is less effective on hardwood flooring. Its side brush scatters large cereal bits that cling to the floor instead of being vacuumed. It also had a tough to collect table salt from a bare floor, with many grains skidding across the floor and beyond its reach.

It allows voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant via an external device (sold separately). It identifies your cleaning habits and offers personalized schedules. Cliff Detect and an edge-sweeping brush ensure that it can get into hard-to-reach corners, while Dirt Detect sensors alert it to areas that are heavily soiled. It has a dustbin that automatically emptys and it has a battery life of around 60 minutes. The more expensive iRobot J7 comes with a more sophisticated set of features and is more stable on all surfaces. It also feels better built and has a bigger dust bin, charges faster, and is able to navigate obstacles such as electrical cords better.
