A good robot vacuum can make a big difference in keeping allergens such as dust and pet hair under control. Different models are not identical.

There are a myriad of options available depending on whether you are looking for a vacuum that is pet-specific or a robot to work with your other cleaner.

1. Eufy RoboVac Edge G30

The G30 Edge, the latest model from Eufy's budget series of robotic vacuum cleaners, is the most recent model. The G30 Edge is a glossy black vacuum cleaner, with rose gold and blue accents. It does a very good job of picking up pet hair and crumbs off hard floors, but it is in comparison to the best models in scooping up flour on carpet. In our tests, it failed to pick up 74% of the dust on hard floors and 26% of the powder on carpet.

The G30 Edge is unique in its ability to map your home with a digital map. This allows it to remember which rooms it has already cleaned, and to avoid returning to these rooms. This is a major issue for robots that are more basic and require the use old-fashioned magnetic tap to delineate no-go zones.

This model is the most recent in a long line of robots from Neato and features a unique "D" shape when seen from above. This design comes with a variety of advantages, including an improved corner cleaning system and a larger dust bin than the majority of models. The D-shape allows the robot to reach under furniture better than robots with a circular shape.

The i3+ EVO's obstacle avoidance isn't as effective as the other robots we evaluated, and it repeatedly ran into objects in our tests such as handbags shoes and pet toys prior to continuing on its path. It also had issues dealing with salt from kosher, coarse that it blew over and around rather than picking up.
