BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost uses the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This stops thieves adding a new key or even replacing the ECU to bypass your security system as it requires a valid PIN code to begin the engine.

The Ghost is unique to other immobilisers because it doesn't rely on key-fobs or LED indicators. It relies on the buttons of your vehicle to allow you enter a unique disarming sequence that only you know.

Stop & Start

If you've ever driven a brand new BMW or utilized the stop start feature, then you might have noticed that when you stop the engine the engine will still continue to run for around 30 seconds after releasing the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to watch the vehicle for signals emanating from the ignition key. When it detects this the vehicle will continue to operate. The Autowatch 2 Ghost immobiliser prevents this from happening by stopping the car when you push a button sequence.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is an innovative next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or adding aftermarket alarm and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network and is programmed with a unique PIN code which is accessed by buttons in your car. This allows you to enter the key sequences which aren't accessible in normal media menus. For instance volume up/down, source controls, cruise control, air conditioning and more. The PIN is between 4 and 20 characters, making it hard for thieves to guess.

We can also add the ability to use a service/valet feature. This is activated while your vehicle is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is away from the garage. You can activate this mode by pressing the service button 5 times on your infotainment device (the system will flash with confirmation) and the Ghost will automatically arm itself when you return.

Service / Valet Mode

The Ghost is the leading immobiliser on the market. It prevents your vehicle from being stolen through key cloning or hacking. It works by utilising the vehicles factory buttons to create a unique sequence of presses that only you can identify, much like the pin code security on your mobile phone. It's incredibly discreet and quiet in stopping even the most zealous thieves from ever trying!

If you are parked at home or in the event of a meet and greet when you are at a meet and greet, the Ghost can be set to service mode which allows you to start the car with your keys in the normal way, but stops the engine from running until the correct code is entered. This is ideal for customers who have to transfer their vehicles to valet services, or trusted family members and friends. This allows you to take your car to the garage for repairs, or other maintenance. without fearing that it will be tampered with by a mechanic while you wait.

If the service/valet mode has been activated when the service/valet mode is enabled, your BMW will not be able to drive after it has been turned on. This stops anyone else from testing driving it while you're away. When you return, the car will be restored to normal operation and prevent it from being damaged or stolen.

The Ghost can be installed on any BMW. All you require are the correct keys, since the device doesn't use the original remotes but can be used with them. Anti-Hijack

With hi-tech thieves becoming more advanced, the security technology is continuing to evolve, this is why Ghost has created this subtle and non-obtrusive immobiliser. It's designed to stop thieves from using a brand new key or replacing the ECU to start your vehicle and then drive it away. Ghost connects to your CAN network and utilizes buttons on your vehicle to create an individual push-sequence that has to be entered before your engine can begin.

This will activate the anti-hijack mode and, once it is activated any attempt to start the engine will be immediately blocked. The system will hone the horn and flash the indicators. It will also stop the vehicle when the code isn't found. The Anti-Hijack feature can be cancelled by entering your push sequence, or by entering service mode that allows your car to temporarily start and drive without needing to enter your PIN.

If you have an GPS device connected to your BMW, you can utilize it to disable the Anti-Hijack function so that you can continue to use your navigation system when the vehicle is in a parking spot. If you own a smart-phone, you can also connect it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack function and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect the Ghost device to your mobile application to allow remote control of keyless start and go capabilities. This is useful when you have to go somewhere other than home and a mechanic or valet needs to start your car. The system lets you start your car, select drive and quit the service mode without the need to use your key fobs. You can also see your vehicle in real time on a map on your smartphone, ideal for tracking your car whilst in motion.

The Ghost can be placed under the dashboard, or in the center console. It is completely hidden and tamper-proof. It does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to CAN Data Network of the vehicle (similar to Ethernet cable) and a personal pin code is inserted into it. This pin code has to be selected prior to the engine's start. This stops thieves from gaining access to the system using a cloned or replaced ECU.

If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will enter a service mode and shut down all functions until the PIN code is entered, or you use the mobile app to disable it. This feature was designed to safeguard your vehicle from thieves using high-tech devices who employ relay boxes to take it. It will even stop the thieves from being able to use their mobile phone to turn on your sat nav system or MP3 player to track your car!

This is the most common method of preventing a vehicle from being taken away with a key-fob that was copied or stolen through hacking. Ghost lets you stop this theft by installing a device known as Secure-A Key in your vehicle. The device installs inside the key-fob in your vehicle and disconnects the battery after a short period of inactivity, this can be done on most modern PKE key-fobs.
