It is designed to stop thieves from adding a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your car and drive it away. Ghost connects to your CAN data network and utilizes the buttons within your vehicle (steering wheel and centre console, as well as door panels) to create a unique push sequence that needs to be entered before the engine can start.

This will activate the anti-hijack mode and once active any attempt to start the engine will be blocked. When the system determines that the vehicle has stopped moving it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, in case it fails to identify the correct code it will also stall the engine (where possible). The Ghost Immobiliser Car can be placed on the dashboard or in the center console. It is completely hidden and secure, and doesn't require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicles CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is embedded into it. The pin code needs to be entered prior to the engine's start. This prevents thieves from using a cloned key or replacing the ECU to bypass this system.

If the vehicle is stolen, the Ghost will go into a service mode that disables all functions unless the PIN code is entered, or you make use of the mobile app to disable it.
