They include aptX codecs and aptX HD codecs as well as adaptive codecs to play high-quality audio through Bluetooth.

The WH-1000XM5 sports the same headband and earcups as the XM4 however it is lighter and more comfortable. They are comfortable to wear and can be worn for extended periods of time. They are also ideal for long commutes and flights. They're noise cancelling headphones that reduce background noise, but not compromise clarity or clarity. The Sony WH1000XM5 headphones feature a good amount of bass, particularly for closed-back models. They also provide a great soundstage and a clear distinction between vocals and instruments.

They have a low latency when watching videos, which is a benefit. The lag is low enough that it's virtually undetectable and they can be used to play casual gaming. They're not the best for gaming in a competitive manner but they're excellent for those who wish to utilize them for media consumption or to make hands-free calls.

They also have Sony's DSEE Extreme engine which upscales compressed music to close to high quality. They're compatible with Sony's LDAC technology which streams music with higher quality over Bluetooth.

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Since the release of its first-generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have often been included on the top lists of wireless headsets which puts them in the same bracket with the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 as well as Bose QuietComfort. The PX7 S2s aren't just noise-cancelling, but they come with a range of other features that make them highly competitive with other top-rated headphones. They're wireless and have Bluetooth multipoint support, so you can pair with two devices at once. They also come with an inbuilt microphone that allows hands-free calls using your phone assistant. The build quality is durable and high-end and will last you for many years.

Of course they're not perfect. The clamp force on our test models was a little more pronounced than we'd like and there aren't as many additional app features available as some other models, but these aren't major issues. 3. Focal Bathys Wireless

Focal Bathys is a great option for audiophiles who appreciate high-fidelity and are in search of a wireless noise-canceling headphone. They're the French audio company's first-ever ANC headphones that utilize Bluetooth and they offer incredible audio quality in both Bluetooth mode and when connected to a device via USB for hi-fi audio at up to 24 bits/192kHz (the headphones are also capable of passively blocking external sound through its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning, with their glossy finish and swooping curvatures like Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear headphones. They also have premium materials such as magnesium and aluminum for a robust build that feels solid, comfortable, and worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones provide an impressive, clear sound signature. They easily surpass consumer ANC devices with similar prices like the Sony XM5/5 and Bose QC45. They can be improved further by using direct DAC audio mode which makes them an excellent choice for serious hi-fi enthusiasts.

The Focal and Naim app allows users to adjust the headphone's playback controls as well as Bluetooth pairing preferences. You can select between quiet or soft intensities for ANC and adjust the brightness of the LEDs on the ear cups, and tweak settings for EQ. The app is fairly bare-bones but offers enough functionality to make it worthwhile.

The only issue is that the active noise cancellation doesn't perform as well as the competition. The headphone isn't able to block out all the background noise as the most rated XM5 or AirPods Max, and its quality of treble isn't as good, with a muddy mid - to high frequency that impedes the instruments and vocals.

The Focal Bathys headphones aren't particularly transportable. They are not suitable for travel because their ear cups do not fold, and they weigh more than other models. The Bathys are best utilized at home for long listening sessions or as a reference headset for sound engineering. Despite their size and bulk they Bathys are surprisingly comfortable to wear for extended durations of time.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WHCH720N is a great pair of wireless over-ear headsets at a reasonable price. The noise-cancelling technology is excellent and helps to cut down the background noise. They are perfect for those who commute or travel. Their matte finish and sturdy construction gives them a hint of luxury.

They look similar to Sony's 1000X and XB910N headphone models. They feature a slim plastic headband, with the standard hinges on the earcups. They are light and comfortable, but they feel a bit too compressed to my liking. They have a USB-C charging port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable inside the box. They support multipoint Bluetooth pairing, meaning you can connect them to two devices simultaneously should you choose to.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid tech for noise cancellation did a great job of reducing ambient sound. There were only a few noticeable glitches while walking around Waterloo Station and London Victoria. They weren't sound-silencers that zapped every single nearby sound, however, and they struggled with lower-frequency noises like the rumbling engine sounds of trains and buses.

The CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth and displayed a low harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and found they handled the intricate interplay between instruments very well. It did an excellent job of controlling the bass in rock tracks and keeping the focus of the mix.

I love the ability to adjust the Sony Headphones Connect app to customize the CH720N's ANC and multipoint connectivity settings to your liking, as well as include a variety of audio presets. You can also use the app to activate DSEE, which upsacles compressed content and improves the sound quality.

While the WH-CH720N does not have a few of Sony's primetime features compared to the XM5 (such as Speak-to -Chat and Quick Attention) they do offer a robust set of features available for PS130. 360 Reality Audio, smart controls and DSEE upscaling feature are all included. The only thing not included is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support which I believe would have been a great inclusion.
