The Sennheiser Momentum 4s come with an excellent ANC feature, with a convenient on-ear control, and a convenient app. Its default sound profile delivers the sound of a thump and a punch, however instruments and vocals can be nudged to the background.

1. Sony WH-1000XM5

The Sony WH-1000XM5 is a great pair of headphones for those who enjoy music and want the best wireless headset. The headphones are lightweight, have a soft carrying bag and fold flat to fit inside your bag. The touch controls are intuitive and simple to use, and the battery can last for 30 hours with no ANC. The headphones come with an auto pause feature which shuts them off when you take them from your head. This helps to conserve battery.

The WH1000XM5 can be used with Sony Headphones Connect, which offers a variety of features that can be utilized to customize the audio experience. The app can be used to track your location and tailor ambient sound features to the environment you are in. The microphone is integrated for hands-free calls. The Sony WH1000XM5 can play music wirelessly using Bluetooth or wired using the cable included. They support aptX codecs, aptX HD codecs and aptX adaptive codecs to play high-quality audio through Bluetooth.

Similar to the XM4, the WH1000XM5 is light and comfortable, with a well-padded headband and ear cups. They're comfortable to wear for long periods of time and are comfortable enough for commutes as well as longer flights. They're noise cancelling headphones that reduce background noise without compromising clarity or detail. The Sony WH-1000XM5 have an adequate amount of bass for closed back b uetooth headphones and they have a superb soundstage that has an excellent distinction between vocals and instruments.

They have a very low latency when watching videos, which is a plus. The lag is low enough that it's virtually undetectable and they can be used for casual games. They're not the best choice for games that are competitive, however and are best for those who intend to use them for media consumption and for making calls using hands-free technology.

Sony is committed to incorporating intelligent features into its products, and the WH1000XM5 is no different. The active noise cancellation feature was one of the most effective I've used and they have an array of smart features to improve your listening experience. They also have Sony's DSEE Extreme engine which upscales compressed music to near high-res quality. They also work with Sony's LDAC technology which streams higher-bitrate audio over Bluetooth (although not as high-quality as the headphone DAC that's dedicated).

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Since the introduction of the first generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have frequently included on the top lists of wireless headsets which puts them in the same bracket as the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort. The PX7 S2 is the latest model that takes the original b uetooth headphones to the next level, with improved ANC performance as well as a new look.

In the earcups, bio cellulose 40mm drivers are bent to point straight at your eardrums in order to provide an audio experience that is more intimate than most closed-back headphones can manage. The PX7 S2 does not disappoint in this claim with a fervent zeal. The vocals are clear and the bass is deep when needed.

The PX7 S2 also performs very well with voice calls, and has a crisp and clear sound that doesn't drown out your own voice. The PX7 S2 also offers rapid charging, which can bring you back fully charged in just two hours. They're also compatible with high-resolution music thanks to aptX adaptive Bluetooth codesc which allow them to play audio with 24-bit quality.

For most listeners, the most important upgrade is the enhanced noise-canceling and audio performance. In our tests we were able to eliminate a majority of the simulated aircraft noises with the PX7 S2. They also performed well in Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus which provide an excellent understanding of the changing dynamics between the solo vocal, wind trio, and orchestral accompaniment.

In addition to In addition to improved ANC, as well as improved ANC, PX7 S2s include a range of other features that make them very competitive with other top-rated noise-canceling headphones. They are fully wireless and come with Bluetooth multipoint support, so you can pair them with two devices simultaneously. They also have an inbuilt microphone which allows hands-free calls with your phone's assistant. The build quality is durable and high-end and will last you for many years.

Of course, they're not perfect. The clamp force on our test models was a little less than we'd like, and there aren't as many additional app features available as some other options, but they aren't major issues. The PX7 S2s are a fantastic wireless headphone that is among the top of their class, and it's hard to imagine them being outclassed by any other competitor.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless

For audiophiles who value high fidelity and are looking for a premium wireless noise-canceling headset, the Focal Bathys are hard to beat. The Focal Bathys are the first ANC headphones made by an French audio manufacturer to utilize Bluetooth. They offer amazing sound quality both in Bluetooth mode and when connected via USB to a device for true hi-fi listening with a maximum of 24 bit/192kHz.

The Bathys are stunning with their glossy finishes and swooping curvatures that like Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear headphones. The Bathys are made from premium materials like magnesium and aluminum that make them feel sturdy, comfortable, and well worth the cost.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones deliver an impressive, clear sound signature. They are able to outperform consumer ANC devices with similar prices like the Sony XM5/5 and Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode lets them be pushed further, making them a great option for true hifi listeners.

The Focal &Naim app allows users to adjust the headphone's playback controls and Bluetooth pairing preferences. The app lets users select between silent and soft intensities for ANC. Users can also adjust the brightness of the LEDs on the ear cups of the headphones, and adjust the EQ settings. The app is not complete but it has enough functionality to be worth the download.

The only flaw is the active noise cancellation, which doesn't live in the same way as the other models. The headphone does not eliminate any ambient noise as well as the highly rated XM5 and AirPods Max. Its treble accuracy also falls short and has a muddy mid-to-high range that blocks the instruments and vocals.

The Focal Bathys headphones aren't particularly transportable. Their ear cups don't fold down and weigh slightly more than the competition, meaning that they're not ideal for travel. The Bathys should be used at home for long listening sessions, or as an audio reference headset for sound engineering. 4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WH-CH720N headphones are a good pair of wireless over ear headphones for the money. The noise-cancelling technology is excellent and does a great deal to cut down the background noise. They are great for those who commute or travel. They also offer an appealing design that reflects premium quality, thanks to their sturdy construction and appealing matte finish.

They look similar to Sony's 1000X and XB910N headphone models. They sport a slim headband, with the typical ear cup hinges and a sturdy plastic construction. They're light and comfortable to wear, but they feel a bit too compressed for my liking. They come with a USB-C charge port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable included in the box. They are compatible with multipoint Bluetooth pairing, meaning you can connect them to two devices at once If you want to.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid noise cancelling technology did an excellent job of curbing background noise, with just a couple of noticeable blips when walking through Waterloo station and London Victoria. They weren't magic sound-silencers that blocked out every sound however, they struggled with low-frequency noises such as the rumbling engine noises of trains and buses.

The CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth and displayed a low harmonic distortion. I tested a range of genres and discovered that they handled the intricate interplay between instruments with ease. It did a great job of controlling the bass in rock tracks while keeping the mix focused.

The Sony Headphones Connect App allows you to alter the CH720N's multipoint connectivity as well as ANC settings to suit your preferences. You can also add a variety of audio presets. You can also enable DSEE through the app, which improves the quality of sound and boosts compression of audio content.

The WH-CH720N is an excellent value for PS130. It's not equipped with many of Sony's best features (such as Speak-to-Chat and Buy Fast Attention) however, it does come with a lot of great features. You get access to 360 Reality Audio and a range of smart controls, and the aforementioned DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing that is not available is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support which I believe would have been a welcome inclusion.
