A robot vacuum is the best tool to maintain an orderly home. It can remove pet hair, dust, and other debris on surfaces.

Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Look for models that are rechargeable and continue cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot S8

This smart robot mop and vacuum is a great option for a wide range of households. It vacuums and mops well and has a great navigation system that includes both GPS and laser sensors and offers a broad range of features and controls available via the app. It also comes with a useful feature that allows you to add Cleaning zones for certain areas that need extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones that you don't want it to move. As with all Roomba devices, it gets new software updates that make it more efficient over time.

The X8 is still a decent vacuum for floors that are not clean that can carry debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are very efficient at grabbing corners and edges. Our tests showed that it was able to remove 90 percent of the fur on hard floors.

There's a mopping mode which uses the same water tank as the vacuuming one. This is ideal for spills that aren't serious, but you can't control the amount of water it consumes. It is effective at picking up pet hair. It has a higher pick-up rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, gorgeous design and excellent navigation. There are a few niggles in its operation that prevent it from being ranked as the best smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system that makes use of LIDAR to map the space as well as a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). 4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that looks just like the other, but comes with a few more features and a better performance. Its smart mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses them to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. It's also able to detect common obstacles like power cords and furniture legs in real time. The combination of sensors with a bump detector, and an infrared sensor to keep the vacuum away from the stairs makes it one of our most agile vacuums.

In our tests, it was able to climbed over thick shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring was higher than the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the surface litter and embedded dog hair that we tested in our lab samples.

The controls are simpler than those of the competition's. There's a clean button at the top and you can choose to start it by using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones, and look up its cleaning history. Ion is covered in a sophisticated dark gray plastic that feels and looks appealing in your home. Its rear dustbin is accessible for emptying, and taking out the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking to buy a basic low-cost robot vacuum at a low price, the Eufy 11S might be your best bet. It's not equipped with some advanced features such as Alexa integration and digital mapping that are found in higher-end models. If you don't need these features, you could save money.

The robot is simple to set up and use. It doesn't require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However, it does come with the remote control that lets you select between different modes and adjust suction level. It also allows you to manually take the robovac off during scheduled cleaning.

During our tests during our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in cleaning dirt and pet hair from hard floors and in carpets with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to pass under furniture that is low-hanging and other items that heavier robots were unable to get at. It was also able to easily get over thresholds for doors and transition from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S will take in some objects, such as cords hoodie drawstrings and cat toys. The manufacturer says that you can avoid this by keeping these objects off the floor and by using the possibility of a cord organizer. It also suggests cleaning the dustbin on a regular basis, replacing the filters and washing or changing the brushes when needed.

It's a dependable robot vacuum, even if its app isn't the most responsive and the 980 spins when rolling over cables.
