The Scout RX3 impressed us in our test of how well it was able to clean baking powder from baseboards and corners. Its suction of 2,500Pa was weaker than other robots but it was still quiet and moved quickly. It didn't mop however its washable pads were difficult to attach and could not deal with dried-on dirt.

The app is on the basic side, lacking advanced features like multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa, but its voice controls aren't particularly clear or responsive. It's also a bit flaky when it returns to the charging station following an exercise. Other robots can follow the wall or trace a previous route however the RX3 stumbles around until it finally gives up.

We also had issues with the smart vacuum features of the device, including its mapping feature and the digital stay-out zones. While it did a great job of keeping away from our furniture legs and shoes however, it was easily caught by cables and socks and couldn't handle the tassels of rug. That's why we chose not to include it in our Best Buy list. With a decent price tag and impressive performance, the Scout RX3 is worth considering in the event you're looking to find a smarter alternative to the traditional uprights.
