UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. When replacing a window handle them, it is crucial that the new handles conform to the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever handle is a modern door handle that is designed to fit new or replacement doors. This style of handle is available in various styles and finishes. This handle is offered by a number of manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The uPVC/Composite door handles are made of robust materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and run from the same spindle and screw fixings. They are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The sprung lever design allows the handle for double glazed window to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles. This allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back in the door. A shorter lever can be used on doors with a latch that can be opened by the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently from lever-type handles on doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically used on UPVC double glazed doors. They come in many variations & finishes.

The handles have been tested to at least 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs come with a spindle and screws which allow them to be fitted on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a wider size handle that can often be a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the problem of handles for doors that slide out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is important to match the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint sash lock door handles and the uPVC doors when selecting a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often referred to as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the correct handles.

When you have the right PZ size you will then have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you need for your doors. They are typically square or round with an internal lever and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we offer are spring-loaded. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from entering a home. Also, the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are hand-operated, allowing you to install them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock body, permitting them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. euro Lock handles cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The choice of the correct cylinder is crucial; it is contingent on the way your door and handle are used. External doors, for example should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure and doors inside can be secured using a standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that can increase security, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be measured accurately to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. If you are unable to measure with the lock in position, you can remove it. It is important to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most modern cylinders are constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. They are designed to minimize attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This will help to deflect attacks and ensure your door is secure.

There are cylinders designed to withstand snapping. This is a growing type of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is attacked with a special tool to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a lot faster and easier to achieve than opening the door with multipoint locks and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found inside the base plate of the door handle. It is a spring-loaded solution to return the multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. Previously a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This simple component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also helps prevent your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position since they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically designed for use with multipoint locks sprung They will not work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You will require a bespoke hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a replacement to broken or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They feature a square cut out which allows for an 8mm spindle to be used and they are supplied individually.

These spring cassettes are an excellent value-for-money solution to the issue of handles on your doors that are sagging. They are easy to fit and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
