UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The old aluminium window handles on your doors wear out over time and will need to be replaced. It is important to keep the same dimensions as the changing window handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently to the lever type handles found on most doors. These handles can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC double glazed doors. They come in a variety of styles and styles.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200,000 cycles and are available in various finishes including White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with the spindle and screws which allow them to be installed on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a wider size of handle which is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also sprung, solving the problem of handles hanging from their horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is essential to match up the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often referred to as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the right handles for upvc windows.

When you have the right PZ size you will then be required to make sure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. They are usually rectangular or round in shape, with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. It is recommended to do this with the lock in place however when this isn't possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, therefore it is essential that it's not too long.

Most newer cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features built into their design. They are designed to minimize attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a new direction. This will help to deflect an attack and protect your door.

There are cylinders that are constructed to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and less difficult than opening the door with multipoint locks. Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is located in the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their resting position after using. In the past, a lot of handles didn't have a spring built into them, and as a result, they can droop or 'drop' once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. Adding this simple component is one of the best methods to correct this, and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in either closed or open position, since they aren't always simple to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were designed to be used with a spring multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit.
