UPVC Replacement Door Handles

As time passes the handles on your doors will wear out and need to be changed. It is essential to be able to match the dimensions of the handles you have previously replaced when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in many styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The door handles for patio doors of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks which require a robust design. The handles are inline and use the same screws and spindle to fix them. They can be easily mounted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite door.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle for double glazed window has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, this allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The lever that is sprung can be shortened to fit a wider range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A shortened lever can also be used on doors that have a latch which can be operated with the thumb inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handles are operated by one spindle or two spindles inline or offset. They are usually utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to at least 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with a high performance and durability to serve the purpose it was designed for.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with the spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on any new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is often an advantage when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also sprung, solving the problem of door handles sagging out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is important to match the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also called the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres and is an essential aspect to match the right handles.

When you have the right PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they will return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This helps prevent the draughts and cold air from entering a property. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed versions, allowing them to be put on either side of the doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder's casing. This reveals pins that can be aligned to those in the lock and allow them to turn the revolving camera, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins, with external and internal doors usually requiring different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It depends on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors should be fitted with an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders come with additional features that increase security further, such as anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured accurately to ensure it is the right size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. A cylinder that is protruding beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as lock snapping, so it is essential that it's not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in the opposite direction. This helps deflect the attack and keep your doors safe.

There are also cylinders that are made to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and simpler method to gain access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located inside the base of your door handle's backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after usage. Previously a lot of these types of handle did not have a spring built into them and without this they tend to droop or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. The addition of this simple element is one of the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an effective way to keep your doors made of replace upvc window handle from becoming stuck in either closed or open position, since they aren't always simple to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of many kinds of uPVC doors. They are sold as a single unit. They feature a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
