UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time, the handles on your doors will wear out and will require replacement. When doing this it is important that the new handles conform to the critical dimensions of the previous handle.

The top screw's position, the lever and the keyhole sizes are the three measurements that you need to verify. Use the size guide to help with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle is a modern door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This type of door handle is available in a wide range of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from robust materials, and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that need a heavy-duty design. The handles are inline and operate off the same spindle and screw fixings. They are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be positioned and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This will ensure the quality of the finish as well as the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back from the door. A shorter lever is a good choice for doors where the latch can be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handles can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are usually used on UPVC double glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and styles.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White Chrome, and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and durability to serve its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles come with a spindle and screws that allow them to be fitted on a new or existing upvc handle window door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a larger size handle that can often be a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have springs, which can solve the problem of door handles that move out of the horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is crucial to ensure that the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.

When you have the right PZ size you will then have to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are in a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you require for your doors. They are typically square or round with an internal lever, and an external door handles push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads we sell are spring-loaded. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This stops draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed models which allows them to be placed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder's casing. This exposes pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock and allow them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with external and internal doors usually having different levels of security.

Choosing the right cylinder is vitally important; this is dependent on how your doors and handle are used. For instance, doors that are external should be fitted with a more secure cylinder while doors inside can be secured with a standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features which can enhance security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the other end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can remove it. It is essential to not have a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.

The majority of modern cylinders have been made with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This can help stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

There are also cylinders that have been constructed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is a quicker and easier way to gain access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located within the base of the door handle backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their rest position after using. The handles were previously equipped with no spring and would drop when the locking window handle mechanism was disengaged. This simple feature is among the best ways to correct this and it is also an excellent way to stop your upvc doors from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as these aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed to be used with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with unsprung multipoint handles and you will require a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution to broken or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
