Titration

A highly experienced consultant psychiatrist will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your ADHD. This includes a complete medical history, and an assessment using the common ADHD questionnaires and rating scales.

After your assessment You will be advised if medication would be beneficial for your specific situation. This will be discussed during your follow-up appointment (which may be scheduled in person, via video link or over the phone). This process can take a few weeks and involves gradually adjusting your child's medication until the appropriate balance is reached. The cost for these titration appointments is PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 for online or phone video consultations. The pharmacy will be charged for any charges for medication.

The psychiatrist will ask questions about your family history, the impact of your ADHD symptoms on your life and any mental health issues you might be experiencing. ADHD can be a hereditary condition, which is why it's crucial to assess your family history to determine if you are at a greater chance of developing this condition.

It is essential that you are honest and transparent with the clinician during this evaluation, as the information they receive will be used to determine if your ADHD is in line with the diagnostic criteria. This is an important step, since a wrong diagnosis could result in a prescription for medication that is not appropriate.

If you want to start treatment immediately it is possible to start treatment when you are diagnosed. You can also wait two weeks to think about the implications of the diagnosis and the options available to you.

We suggest that if you are unsure about your preferences, you speak to your GP prior to booking your private assessment. Some providers have different guidelines regarding whether they require a GP letter. We also recommend that you check whether your GP accepts a "Shared Care Agreement', which means that once discharged from the clinic you will be referred back to them for the prescription for the medication.

Medication

Once you have been identified as a candidate for this treatment your chosen doctor will examine you and decide whether or not you're required to be adjusted on your medication. You will be asked to fill out forms that vary by provider but the main ones are self-report questionnaires and medical histories from childhood to adulthood. They will help your physician identify any factors that might mean you shouldn't take ADHD medications if they are prescribed.

If you are on a titration medication, it will typically consist of non-stimulant and stimulant medications. They will be examined and monitored to determine the right combination for you. The titration process may be lengthy and may need a few extra appointments before you're able to stay on your dose.

The frequency of your follow-up appointments is contingent on the type and quantity of medication that you are taking. They can be scheduled for monthly or quarterly. This will include your physician checking to see if you are taking the correct medication, noting any adverse effects you've experienced and making any necessary adjustments to ensure you are on a safe dosage. You are required to attend an annual review and a regular health check-up that includes pulse, blood pressure, and weight measurements.

For some people, it may be that they are happy with their medication and don't need a further discussion about their titration adhd medications.
