WASHINGTON, June 20 (Reuters) - The moms and of Voice of America said on Friday it had issued termination notices to over 639 more staff, completing an 85% decline in personnel because March and efficiently spelling completion of a broadcasting network founded to counter Nazi propaganda.

Kari Lake, senior consultant to the U.S. Agency for Global Media, stated the personnel decrease meant 1,400 positions had been gotten rid of as part of U.S. President Donald Trump's program to cut staffing at the firm to a statutory minimum.

"Reduction in Force Termination Notices were sent to 639 employees at USAGM and Voice of America, part of a long-overdue effort to dismantle a puffed up, unaccountable administration," Lake stated in a declaration.

She said the firm had been "riddled with dysfunction, bias, and waste."

Lake stated the relocation indicated USAGM now ran near its statutory minimum of 81 workers. She stated 250 employees would stay across USAGM, Voice of America, and the Office of Cuba Broadcasting, which sends news into communist-run Cuba. She stated none of OCB's 33 employees had been terminated.

The move likely marks an end to VOA, which was founded in 1942 to counter Nazi propaganda, run in almost 50 languages and reached 360 million individuals a week, numerous living under authoritarian routines.

In May, almost 600 VOA specialists were dismissed.

Some Republicans have accused VOA and other openly moneyed media outlets of being prejudiced versus conservatives, and called for them to be shuttered as part of larger efforts to shrink the federal government.

Another USAGM station, Radio Free Asia, which has already been reduced to skeleton staffing, said in a staff email on Friday that it was carrying out extra furloughs in its personnels, regulation, reporter security, and research, training & evaluation groups.
