Sureshji who taught the online TTC, joined with his laptop, technical karma yogis and cameras for the teachers and students of the online TTC to share in the blessings of Sri Ganesh for a good start to teaching and learning. In spite of the winter holidays, the snow, and the strikes, the Masters continue to send good numbers of students and precious help.


Four new online courses began - Swami Hridyananda, together with Narayan Jyoti, taught students the sacred music of kirtan in Yoga and Chanting for Peace of Mind and Heart; Swami Paramananda commenced Cultivating the Power of the Mind and a new session of Asana Challenge, while Swami Brahmananda began teaching the eleventh chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. We had a group of new practitioners as guests for the "Basic Asana Practice Week". Group performance of asanas brings about awareness of collective energy. Yogic postures (asanas) are internally oriented, non competitive, and meditative, promoting calmness and helping the practitioner to transcend identification with the body; this is as opposed to our over-attachment to the body and to external beauty. Based on his experiences that he has been teaching yoga at mental hospitals for a long time, he shared with us his knowledge and skills such as recommended postures for them to practice, suitable words for us to use when teaching yoga to them.


A new Yoga 1 course has started on Saturdays with 5 students attending. The students began their teaching groups enthusiastically and also appreciated the shift to Anatomy and Physiology classes. Mid January: Yashashvin who taught Vedanta at the Tokyo Centre gave a workshop for yoga teachers, focusing on what Yoga can do to help people who have mental health problems.
