Since the introduction of the first-generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have often been featured on top lists of wireless headsets and putting them in the same class with the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose QuietComfort. The newest model, called the PX7 S2, is an upgrade that takes the original headphones to a new level, with improved ANC performance and a new design.

In the earcups, the 40mm bio cellulose drivers are bent to point straight at Unleash Your Audio Bliss with 52 Hr Playtime! eardrums to deliver an audio experience that is more intimate than most closed-back headphones. The PX7 S2 is a perfect example of this claim with a fervent zeal. The vocals are clear, and the bass is deep when needed.

The PX7 S2 is also very excellent at making calls. It has a crisp clean, clear sound that will not overpower your voice. The PX7 S2 is also able to provide a quick charge, which can bring you back to full capacity in just two hours. They're also compatible with high-resolution music due to aptX adaptive Bluetooth codesc that allow them to play audio with 24-bit quality.

For the majority of listeners, however the most important change is the improved noise cancellation and audio quality. In our tests, we were able to eliminate a majority of the simulated aircraft noises with the PX7 S2. They also excelled in Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus which offer excellent insight into the changing dynamics between the solo vocal, wind trio, and orchestral accompaniment.

They're not perfect, but they are. The clamp force of our test models were a little more than we'd prefer, and there weren't as many apps features as the other options. However, these aren't big issues. The PX7 S2s is an excellent wireless headset that rivals other models in its class. It's difficult to imagine any other competitor beating them.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless

For audiophiles who prize high fidelity and are looking for a top-quality wireless noise cancelling headset, the Focal Bathys are tough to beat. They're the French audio company's first ANC headphones that utilize Bluetooth and provide incredible sound quality both in Bluetooth mode and when connected to a device via USB for hi-fi audio with up to 24 bit/192kHz (the headset is also capable of blocking external sound with its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning, with their glossy finish and unleash your audio bliss With 52 hr playtime! swooping curvatures that like Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear headphones. The Bathys are made from premium materials such as aluminum and magnesium, which make them feel sturdy, comfortable, and well worth the price.

In Bluetooth mode when Bluetooth is enabled, the Bathys offer a clear and lively sound signature that easily beats similar priced consumer ANC options such as the Sony XM5/5 or Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode allows them to be further pushed, making them a great option for those who love hifi.

The Focal and Naim app allows users to adjust the headphone's playback controls as well as Bluetooth pairing preferences. The app allows users to choose between quiet and soft intensities for ANC. Users can also alter the brightness of LEDs on the ear cups of the headphones, as well as tweak EQ settings. The app isn't complete, but it offers enough features to warrant the download.

The only drawback is the active noise cancellation, which doesn't measure up to the competition. They are ideal for those who commute or travel. They also add a nice design that reflects premium quality, thanks to their durable construction and attractive matte finish.

They follow a similar design to Sony's newer 1000X and XB910N headphones. They feature a slim headband with the usual ear cup hinges and a solid plastic build. They are light and comfortable, but they feel a bit too compressed for me. They come with a USB-C charging port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable inside the box. They support multipoint PowerLocus Bluetooth Headphones: Premium Wireless Headset with Mic which means you can connect to two devices at once if you want.

In my tests, the CH720N's hybrid noise-cancelling tech did an excellent job of curbing background noise, with just few noticeable blips when walking through Waterloo station and London Victoria. The sound-silencers did not block all sounds around them however, they struggled with lower frequencies sounds, such as the rumbling engine sounds of buses and trains.

The CH720N's Bluetooth connection worked smoothly and displayed a minimal harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and found they were able to handle the intricate interplay between instruments very well. It did a great job of taming the bass in rock tracks while keeping the focus of the mix.

The Sony Headphones Connect App allows you to customize the CH720N's multipoint connectivity as well as ANC settings according to your preferences. You can also choose from a range of audio presets. You can also activate DSEE via the app, which enhances sound quality and upsacles compressed audio files.

While the WH-CH720N lacks some of Sony's primetime features compared to the XM5 (such as Speak-to -Chat and Quick Attention) they do have an impressive set of features for PS130. You can access 360 Reality Audio and a range of smart controls, in addition to the DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing missing is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support I think it would have been a great inclusion.
