Like the XM4 The WH-1000XM5 is light and comfortable with well-padded headbands and ear cups. They're easy to wear for Rechargeable headphones long periods and are comfortable enough for commutes as well as longer flights. They have good noise canceling performance that eliminates most background noise while maintaining clarity and detail. The active noise cancellation is among the best I've heard and they include a whole set of smart functions to improve the overall listening experience. They also come with Sony's DSEE Extreme engine which upscales compressed music to near hi-res quality. They're compatible with Sony's LDAC technology which streams higher-bitrate music over Bluetooth.

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Bowers & Wilkins flagship headphones, the PX7 S2 have always been on the top lists of wireless headsets since the release of the first-generation PX7 in 2015. They are in the same class as Sony WH1000XM5 or Bose's QuietComfort. The PX7 S2 is the latest version that takes the original headphones to the next level with a boost in ANC performance and a fresh design.

In the earcups, 40mm bio cellulose drivers are designed to be angled so that they point straight towards your eardrums in order to provide an audio experience that's more intimate than other closed-back headphones can manage. The PX7 S2 does not disappoint in this claim with a fervent zeal. The vocals are clear, and the bass is deep when needed.

The PX7 S2 also performs very well when it comes to voice calls, with a clear and crisp audio that doesn't overpower your own voice. The PX7 S2 also offers a quick charge, which can bring you back fully charged in just two hours. They are also compatible with high-resolution music thanks to aptX adaptive Bluetooth codesc, which allows them to play audio with 24-bit quality.

The noise-canceling technology and the improved audio performance are among the most important improvements for the majority of listeners. In our tests the PX7 S2 eliminated nearly all of our simulations of cabin noise with astonishing efficiency and also performed well when we performed Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus from his Grosse Messe, demonstrating excellent insight into the shifting dynamics between the solo voice, wind trio and orchestral accompaniment.

However, these aren't major concerns. The PX7 S2s is an excellent wireless headset that beats out other models in its class. It's hard to imagine any other competitor to match them.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless

Focal Bathys is the best option for audiophiles who value high-fidelity and are looking for headphones that can be used wirelessly to block out noise. They're the French audio company's first ANC headphones to use Bluetooth and provide incredible sound in both Bluetooth mode and Rechargeable Headphones when connected to an device via USB for true hi-fi listening with a maximum of 24 bits/192kHz (the headphones are also capable of blocking external audio with its closed ear cups).

The Bathys look gorgeous with their black glossy finish and swooping curves similar to Focal's premium open-back Elear and closed-back Celestee headphones. They also feature premium materials such as magnesium and aluminum to create an extremely sturdy build that feels solid, comfortable and worth the cost.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones offer crisp, vibrant sound quality. They easily surpass consumer ANC devices with similar prices like the Sony XM5/5 or Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode lets them be further pushed and makes them an excellent choice for true hifi enthusiasts.

Utilizing the Focal & Naim app users can change their headphone's playback controls as well as their virtual assistant and Bluetooth pairing preferences. The app lets users select between silent and soft intensities for ANC. Users can also alter the brightness of LEDs on the ear cups of the headphones, and alter the EQ settings. The app isn't complete, but it offers enough functionality to warrant the download.

The most notable flaw is that the active noise cancellation doesn't quite match the quality of the competitors. Despite their size and weight, the Bathys are actually comfortable to wear for long durations of time.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WH-CH720N are excellent wireless over ear headphones for the money. The noise-cancelling technology is excellent and helps to reduce the background noise. They are ideal for those who commute or travel. Their matte finish and durable construction give them a touch of high-end quality.

They follow a similar design as Long-lasting Sony Wireless Bluetooth Headphones – 50 Hours+'s more recent 1000X and XB910N headphones. They sport a slim headband with the standard earcup hinges and a sturdy plastic build. They're light and comfortable to wear, however they feel a little too compressed for my taste. They come with a USB-C charging port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable inside the box. They support multipoint Bluetooth, which means you can connect to two devices at once if you want.

In my tests, the CH720N's hybrid noise cancelling technology did great job of reducing ambient noise, with only a couple of noticeable blips when walking through Waterloo station and London Victoria. These weren't magical sound-silencers which zapped every single nearby sound however, they struggled with lower-frequency sounds like the rumbling engine sounds of trains and buses.

Streaming music over the CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth and displayed a low level of harmonic distortion. I tested a variety of genres and found they were able to handle the intricate interplay among instruments very well. It did an excellent job of taming the bass in rock tracks while keeping the focus of the mix.

The Sony Headphones Connect App allows you to alter the CH720N's multipoint connectivity as well as ANC settings to suit your preferences. You can also add a variety of audio presets. You can also activate DSEE via the app, which increases sound quality and upsacles compressed audio files.

The WH-CH720N offers a great value for PS130. It lacks some of Sony's best features (such as Speak-to-Chat and Quick Attention) however it comes with numerous great features. 360 Reality Audio, smart controls, and DSEE upscaling are all included. The only thing that's missing is LDAC Bluetooth high-res audio support I believe it would have been a welcomed inclusion.
