Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love the remote control features of their key fob. Utilizing a smartphone app, they can lock and unlock the car, start the engine, and even locate it.

Unlocking the Door

To do this, press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, if you have one. When you're finished with the vehicle, you can shut all windows by pressing the lock key again for four seconds.

You can also set off the panic alarm inside your car using the key fob. This will emit an intense, enthralling roar that will frighten off thieves and help you get home safe after a long night out. This feature is great if you live in a dangerous location or you want to protect your family when you are away from home.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob comes with a variety of useful features. These are perfect for when you're busy with shopping or helping your kids to pack their sports gear following practice.

Find a smooth surface and lay out your key fob, battery and extra keys. The cover should loosen and fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade underneath it.

You can open all the doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you can close the windows and shut the sunroof when they're equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If it doesn't, then the owner's manual should have a way to reset the alarm.
