Bowers & Wilkins flagship headphones which is the PX7 S2 have always been on the top lists of wireless headsets since the launch of the first generation PX7 in 2015. This puts them in the same category as Sony WH1000XM5 or Bose QuietComfort. The latest model, the PX7 S2, is an upgrade that takes the original headphones to a higher level, with improved ANC performance as well as a fresh design.

The Bathys are stunning with their sleek black finish and swooping curves like Focal's premium open back Elear and closed-back Celestee headphones. They also feature premium materials such as magnesium and aluminum for solid construction that is comfortable, solid and worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones provide a crisp, lively sound quality. They are able to outperform consumer ANC models of the same price such as the Sony XM5/5 and Bose QC45. They can be enhanced further by using direct DAC audio mode, making them an excellent choice for serious hi-fi enthusiasts.

The Focal and Naim app allows users to alter the headphone's playback controls and Bluetooth pairing preferences. The app lets users select between silent and soft intensities for ANC. Users can also alter the brightness of the LEDs that are on the ear cups of the headphones, and alter the EQ settings. The app is basic but has enough features to make it worthwhile.

The most notable flaw is that the active noise cancellation doesn't live up to the competition. The headphone doesn't cut out all ambient noise as the top-rated XM5 or AirPods Max, and its treble accuracy is subpar, with a muffled mid to high frequency that impedes vocals and instruments.

The Focal Bathys headphones aren't particularly portable. They are not suitable for travel due to their earcups don't fold and they are heavier than other headphones. The Sony WH-CH720N are excellent wireless over-ear headphones for the price. They have a solid noise-cancelling system that is capable of quelling ambient noise, making them perfect for those who commute or travel. Their matte finish and sturdy construction gives them a hint of high-end quality.

They look similar to Sony's 1000X and XB910N headphone models. They sport a slim, plastic headband that has the typical hinges on the earcups. They are lightweight and comfortable, however they feel a bit too compressed to my liking. In the box, they come with a USB-C port for charging, an 3.5mm socket and a decent length cable. They allow multipoint Bluetooth pairing, meaning you can connect to two devices at the same time, if you wish.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid tech for noise cancellation did an excellent job of reducing ambient sound. There were only a few glitches while walking around Waterloo Station and London Victoria. They weren't magic sound-silencers that destroyed every sound in the vicinity however, they struggled with lower frequency noises like the rumbling engine sounds of trains and buses.

The CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth and showed a low level harmonic distortion. I tried a variety of different genres and found they were able to handle the intricate interplay between instruments quite well. It did an impressive job of controlling the bass in rock tracks while keeping the mix in focus.

The Sony Headphones Connect App allows users to modify the CH720N's multipoint connectivity and ANC settings according to your preferences. You can also add a variety of audio presets. You can also enable DSEE through the app, which increases sound quality and upsacles compressed audio files.

The WH-CH720N is an excellent value for PS130. It isn't equipped with some of Sony's most popular features (such as Speak-to-Chat and Fast Attention) however it comes with many great features. You can access 360 Reality Audio and a variety of smart controls as well as the aforementioned DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing missing is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support I think it would have been a welcome inclusion.
