It now has an improved suction motor and dual rubber rollers in its floorhead which make it better at taking debris off of the floor and removing pet hair off carpet. Its battery can now run for up to 180 minutes and can support scheduled charging to cut down on electricity costs.

The most notable change is the robot's brand new RockDock Ultra docking station, which does more than just empty and clean its contents after every cleaning cycle. It also cleans the mop pad, dry it with warm air and then fills up its water tank. This is the only thing that makes it different from competitors because it significantly reduces the time and effort that you need to spend on maintaining it.

In the box it comes with a power cable and S8 Pro Ultra is easy to set up. You'll need an internet connection to download the companion app and connect your docking station with an extra mop pad. After that, you're all set to begin cleaning.

In our tests we found that the S8 Pro Ultra picked up the majority of surface litter and embedded dirt on carpets of medium pile as well as bare floors. Its vacuuming power is a bit below our top pick, the iRobot Roomba j7+, but it's still a powerful and versatile machine worth a look.

The app can be used to create a 3D model of your house, set no-go zones and schedule specific cleaning times. The app provides the running records of cleaning times and area coverage and lets you check the performance of each room and the area. You can even assign a distinct cleaning mode to each area. In addition to allowing you to control the robot using a remote or smartphone as well, the iRobot Genius app makes it easy to configure the j7+, establish an agenda, and fine-tune other settings. It will even guide new users through an onboarding process that will aid the robot in understanding their home and plan its cleaning space.

The j7+ has a larger dustbin than most of the self-emptying robots we've tested. It is able to hold more debris, however you will still need to empty the bin every seven to eight months (or more often if you have pet hair or other massive debris). iRobot provides replacement bags and filters.

Another great feature is the front camera of the j7+ it claims to help the robot identify hazards such as power cords and pet waste and stay clear of them. The camera doesn't perform as well in low lighting, though, so you might want to consider a rival that has a better camera, such as the Roborock S7 MaxV.

Lastly, I was pleased to see that the iRobot automatically emptys its dust bin into the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal once it is docked. This is a major improvement over the majority of competitors who require you to open and empty the bin manually. This small detail will save you time and frustration.

3. Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni

The Deebot T10 is a sleek robot that has impressive cleaning capabilities. It is equipped with a suction power of 5000Pa, and is equipped with dual-sided brushes as well as floating brushes that remove dirt from corners and hard floors. It comes with a powerful battery that can be used for vacuuming and mopping. If the battery is low, it can return to its dock. Its smart features include a home-map, 3D mapping and automatic cleaning schedules.

The T10 Omni, like other Deebot models, has a separate tank to wash and dry the mopping pad to avoid cross contamination. The T10 cleaning tank can hold up to 4L clean water. This can mop up to 400m2. It's designed in a way that it can be filled and drained again without getting wet or touching the pad.

One feature that makes the T10 apart from other robot vacuums is its smart mapping technology, which creates an accurate three-dimensional map of your home's layout. This enables the robot to detect obstacles more accurately and alter its direction, increasing the overall effectiveness of cleaning.

The ECOVACS App is simple to use and comes with various settings that can be customized. It's only downside is the absence of an remote control. This could be a niggle for certain users.

The T10 OMNI is great at cleaning pet hair. It was able to remove most of the fur from my carpets in just two cleaning cycles, and was able to even navigate around some furniture that was blocking its path.

The T10 Omni is a great option for anyone who wants an automatic mop and vacuum that can empty it. The mop has the same power as its vacuums and has a more attractive design than Roomba. Although it lacks a remote control, the T10's intelligent capabilities make up for this omission. With the app, you can quickly start and stop a cleaning process. You can also schedule it and change the settings of your device.

4. Shark ION LX

The ION XL, Shark's most advanced Bagless Self Emptying Robot Vacuum-emptying robotic vacuum, is a great choice for those who want to keep their homes clean without having to lift a finger. It also provides exceptional performance. The robot vacuum has an enormous bin that can store the equivalent of a month's worth dirt, and the base can be programmed to automatically empty it at the end of each cleaning session to store it for a longer period of time. The ION XL robot vacuum is one of the most versatile on the market. It can clean carpets and hard floors. You can control the robot with an app or voice commands, and you can create the map of your home to clean each room at the click of a button. The robot is also able to navigate around furniture and traverse stairs and carpeted rooms easily.

I tested the IONXL in a family and kitchen room with hardwood flooring, area rugs and a standard test for debris. It did an excellent job cleaning up pet hair and debris off the floors, and even took care of some of the most stubborn crumbs on carpets. It also did a great job at getting around my barstools and did not bump into them like the iRobot j7+ did in this test. The only drawback to the ION XL is that it does not detect cords, shoes or toys that are within its path. It is necessary to clean your home prior to when you use this vacuum to avoid them.

The ION XL is not as efficient as the iRobot J7+, but it's a good alternative if you don't wish to spend more than $500 on cleaning robots. It's better than the RoboVac 11S, in many ways. It's simpler to maintain and has lower recurring costs. It's also better at cleaning floors with no carpet and removing pet fur, but it isn't as good on low- or higher-pile carpet.

It's not as sturdy as the Roborock S8, but it is a great option. The ION XL has a large bin capacity, it is controlled with an app and voice commands, and it is simple to keep up with routine maintenance. It's also a reasonable price.
