Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers enjoy their key fob's convenient remote features. They can lock and unlock their vehicle and start the engine, and even locate it with an app for smartphones.

Place the key fob's face up on an uncluttered surface. Locate the button that releases it, then wedge a coin between the fob and the cover, and pull up carefully.

Unlocking the Doors

They can even operate the sunroof, when it's equipped. With these features, you'll never have to look for your keys or lock yourself out of your car.

You might not know about certain key fob features that are hidden. One of them is an unlocked/lock button that you can press in case the battery on your key fob goes out.

Place your key fob on the table with the Volvo logo facing up to unlock or lock the manual lock. Locate the black button that is on the outside of the body of your key fob, and gently press it to open a cover that conceals a manual key blade. You will need a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip this cover counterclockwise, so that the arrow is aligned with "open."

Start the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide an unbeatable level of convenience and functionality that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. A key fob, like any other battery-operated device, will eventually lose its charge over time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you hit the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace the battery.

If your car is equipped with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also make use of the key fob in order to activate this feature. The vehicle will then heat or cool to the same temperature it was set at while parked. It will run for up to 15 minutes.

Remove the back cover of the key fob with your fingernail. A button should be placed under the cover at an angle near the edge of the body. You can remove it by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will fall off, and then slide off to reveal the manual blade! If you're still having trouble finding the button, you can search the newly exposed manual key access to see whether there is a hidden slot or lever.

Closing the Windows

One of the hidden features that is not visible on volvo small key fob key fobs is that they allow you to roll down all of the windows immediately by using the fobs. This is a great feature when trying to squeeze into a cramped parking space, or just to get fresh air in the cabin while driving.

Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, should you have one. Once you're done with your car you can shut the doors by pressing the lock button again for Lost four seconds.

You can also use the key fob for activating your car's panic alarm. It will emit an intense, enthralling roar which can deter thieves and help you get home safe after a long night out. The opening of the Tailgate

Volvo has packed its key fob with a many useful features. These are ideal when you're juggling groceries or helping your kids load up their sports gear following practice.

For example, if you have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped) it is possible to open it using the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button, and then close it with the same button.

The Alarm is turned off

Modern key fobs are much more convenient than a mechanical car key. However, they aren't able to function in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries can eventually die. If you're in a hurry, or don't want to go to an establishment to get your key fob programmed, you can attempt to achieve it at home.

Find a clean work surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and other keys. Set the key fob with the Volvo logo facing up Then, locate a small black button at the bottom left of the fob. Slide it down and to the right. The cover should fall off and reveal the key blade's mechanical structure beneath.

You can unlock all doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you will be able to close the windows and sunroof when they're equipped. Reconnect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owners manual should provide a way to reset the system.
