The most significant selling point for Eufy with the X8 is its laser navigation. Previous Eufy devices have created an approximate map of your home using infrared sensors and bumping into things however the X8's laser mapping system is more precise. It takes less time to build an extensive map of your home. It can also store multiple maps. This is perfect for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a decent vacuum on bare floors that can carry debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. Its tyres are adept at hugging corners and edges even though they are circular. It's not a great kitty litter eater, however our tests have shown it only removes about 90% of the fur from hard floors.

The basic mopping mode uses the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. This is ideal for spills that aren't dangerous, but you are unable to limit the amount of water it consumes. It is effective at picking up pet hair. It has a higher rate of pick-up than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

The company is known for its quiet home appliances, Miele's RX2 robot vacuum comes with outstanding cleaning power, stunning design and great navigation. It has a few oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being named the top smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot and models, the RX2 features dual-sensor mapping that uses a LIDAR sensor to map out an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. After the room has been defined and assigned, you can assign virtual no go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. The RX2's sensors work well, registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping capabilities are outstanding, effectively removing surface litter from carpets with medium pile and also removing dust that has been deposited on floors. It's not the most powerful robot available. Like many others it's not a very good climber and is prone to problems with things like thresholds made of steel transition strips.

However, it is a reliable and solid machine that will keep floors clean for many hours.
