The Roomba is easy to operate. It has a trio of buttons on its top cover: 'Clean' launches an entire cleaning cycle and 'Dock' allows it to be put back in its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' triggers a targeted clean. You can control it using an app for smartphones that lets you to schedule cycles, stop and start them and adjust settings. You can also pair it with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.

This vacuum is slower than other models, but it's still able to get into the most crevices and corners. It comes with a large bin that makes it easy to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers which allow you to set the 360 robot vacuum to avoid certain areas or to stop cleaning altogether to prevent it from becoming stuck.

It's not the top in its price range but it's better than the majority of other options. The Roborock E4 is more advanced than the Roomba 694 with a much better cleaning efficiency on carpets that are low and bare. It also has an efficient cleaning route and has longer battery life. It is also more comfortable to use and has fewer parts that require regular maintenance, costs less to own over its lifetime and charges more quickly than the 694.

It is also worth considering other models in the iRobot range, such as the v7 or the 981. They're more expensive, however they are significantly better than the 694 in terms of cleaning performance on both low- and bare floors, use a more efficient cleaning route and have a larger dirt compartment, are faster to charge, can move more easily, and are easier to connect with smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This self-emptying robot that is budget-friendly does a good job on hard floors as well as low-pile carpet. The combination brush is able to reach corners and edges, and then automatically increases suction as soon as it senses carpet. It also does a great job of cleaning embedded dirt from mid-pile carpet. The IQ has a small footprint and a self-emptying function. However, if you want to alter the floor level on the map, or set no-go zones, you'll need manually reset it to do this, which is somewhat of an inconvenience.

The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation capabilities however, it's not able to access no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing technology allows for superior maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient but it could get caught in rug tassels.

In our tests in our tests, the IQ was able to handle pet hair with ease, removing huge amounts of hair from floors with no flooring and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective on shag carpets where it struggled to get at dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It did a decent job of maneuvering chair legs and tight spaces as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. It was a little slower on bare flooring, but it recovered speed and was more efficient than the other robots that we test.

The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a bigger dust bin and lasts longer on charge, and is capable of moving itself around obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to tackle sticky debris. On the other side, the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and has lower recurring costs, and can create virtual no-go zones with its companion app. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off, even if the battery is out before it's finished. The iRobot is also controlled by voice commands, which is an enormous benefit for many users.

Eufy 11S

The eufy RoboVac 11S Robot Vacuum & Mop vacuum isn't among the most features-rich models, but it offers great cleaning power at affordable prices. It's a budget-friendly option for buyers who don't require a complex mapping system or app to control the device. The robot is capable of running for more than an hour and includes the remote, a cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base, and additional filters.

The 11S is slim, sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that appears like the brushed appearance of aluminum. It's a nice contrast to Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.

The eufy11S was successful in our tests at removing larger particles and fine dust from hard flooring. However, it struggled to provide medium and high pile carpeting an effective deep clean. The device is also prone to smack into furniture and people that are in its path, but it's able to detect those obstacles using sensors. When it encounters them, it stops and lets out a loud beep so you can manually steer it through the obstacle before getting back to work.

Another fantastic feature of the eufy11S is its BoostIQ mode that lets you set the robot to automatically adjust the strength of its suction to match the floor type and level of the mess. The remote control makes it simple to guide the 11S to the desired area.

If you don't have much furniture in the space where you're looking to vacuum, Single Room Mode is an excellent option. The eufy will take 30 minutes cleaning the space it is assigned to.

Edge Cleaning is another option that reduces the time spent on each surface to 20 minutes. This will increase the battery's life. By selecting this option the eufy can move in a spiral pattern to clean edges and corners for an efficient clean.

It's not as powerful as more expensive models, but it's great for tackling stains and deep cleaning.
