Rep kits are a great means to fix your gear until you get to the trailhead for a professional repair. The most important thing is to know when to do when you need it.

Tools

It is essential to have the right tools on the go when you are in the field. This kit was developed with this in mind, and includes all the essential hand tools needed to repair items in the field. The tools are all made of metal and feature minimal plastic so they can be used in a variety of ways. The kit includes an open-top canvas coalcracker tools pouch with awl, reamer, twisted cutting shears, the gimlet (5MM), sinue spool made of wood, an oil bottle for the coalcracker tool oil and a set of illustrated instructions.

Repair Patches

Consider adding adhesive patches your kit if there are some holes in your equipment. These patches are made of high-performance glue pre-applied on a tough polyurethane backing that allows a tear to recover. Available in clear and colored options they offer a long-lasting protection against abrasions, moisture, saltwater, sunlight and welcome Kits extreme temperatures.

If your kit doesn't include any of the above items, consider adding a bag of water-proof Aquaseal wader repair sealant. This water-tight adhesive will stick to plastics, fabric, metals, and more for a permanent fix. It's ideal for fixing drysuits and is able to be applied out in the field. Allow the sealant to set for up to 12 hours before using the repaired equipment.

Clean the area thoroughly Then, use the tube-scuffer or sandpaper to roughen the surface which aids in gluing. Spread a thin layer of glue over the patch, covering an area at least as large as the patch. The glue should become tacky and then press the patch in firmly and hold it in place.
