Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops

The Eufy 11S is among the most affordable self-emptying robot vacuums that are available. It was able to efficiently remove dry Oats from hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile during our tests. You can also mark your home to help the device stay clear of areas you don't want it visit.

The app is easy to use and has a simple layout. It's not a feature-rich app, but it is easy to use and lets you monitor your robot's status. It also includes a helpful tutorial to guide you through the basics.

The pattern of cleaning doesn't always appear logical - sometimes it is straight lines, while other times, it is able to find the edges of a room - however Bounce Navigation ensures your entire floor is kept clean. It's not the best at navigating obstacles, it was unable to get under our pet food bowls and piano pedals, and got stuck in our 2.25 inch shag carpet multiple times.

While it's a good alternative for cleaning up light chores, we think there are better robot Vacuums Self emptying vacuums that are better than the 11S. The iRobot Roomba 694 is more robust and easier to maintain, has lower recurring costs, and charges faster. It has a larger bin, is more effective on any type of surface and can climb over obstacles that are low in elevation (like electrical cables) more easily.

The eufy RoboVac 11S makes an excellent choice for everyday vacuuming. It has a very similar design to our top pick and Robot Vacuums self Emptying is good at picking up fine dust and larger debris from hard floors. It does a good job on low-pile or medium-pile carpet. Similar to the Roomba by iRobot Roomba it also comes with a large dirt compartment and utilizes BoostIQ to automatically adjust suction power. It also comes with an easy-to-use remote control to use, and robot Vacuums self emptying you can program daily cleanings using the app. The battery can last for around an hour, and the dustbin can be empty without taking it from the dock.

2. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra

The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra is a fantastic robot vacuum and mop, with a surprisingly wide array of features for automation. The Roborock S7 MaxV comes in three versions: the basic S7 model as well as the S7 Plus model, and the S7 Ultra. The S7 MaxV Ultra is the only one with an Empty Wash Fillet Dock (or an alternate Auto-Empty Dock). These docks allow the robot to return to its home base and empty the debris it has collected in a dust bag, or reservoir, drain the dirty water tank and wash its mopping pads.

Sensors on the S7 work in tandem to clean and eliminate obstacles. It can detect floor types and save a floor map for rooms and zones. It can even detect dirt levels. It's also capable of scheduling and running spot cleaning sessions. It performed well in our standard tests, but it wasn't able to quite match the iRobot Roomba j7+ in the carpet deep clean test.

With the companion app you can program the S7 to perform a cleaning cycle in accordance with your schedule. You can select the cleaning mode like eco or automatic, and a weekday, day, or time. You can also select whether the robot will stop if it is running out of power or encounters an obstacle.

You can still use the S7 even if you don't own an iPhone by connecting an charging dock to the remote control. The controls are a bit confusing at first but they're very efficient once you get used to them. The power button also functions as the 'Cleaning' option, and the Spot Clean button directs the robot to clean the area around it. The 'Spot Clean" button also activates the child lock.

In addition to the new mapping features, Roborock improved its mobile app, adding a live view feature that lets you check out what the S7 is doing at home. You can enable this feature by pressing a specific sequence of buttons on the S7 and then creating an unlock pattern in the app that you can use any time you wish to check out what the robot is up to.

3. Shark IQ Large

Shark's robot vacuums aren't as popular than those from iRobot or Roborock. But our tests have shown that this model is among the most efficient self-emptying vacuums available. It is simple to set up, comes with an enormous bin that's easy to empty (albeit a bit loudly) into a trash bin when it's full, and can easily be programmed to complete a whole-home clean on a schedule or as needed.

The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home, allowing you to monitor its cleaning progress from the Shark app. The app allows you to program a cleaning routine, receive push notifications regarding its current status, pause cleaning and restart cleaning, or set it to a single area. You can also control it with voice commands via Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app can tell you what power mode it's currently in--Eco, Normal or Max. However, we couldn't determine that any of the modes made a huge difference in cleaning performance.

The IQ XL will automatically empty the bin at the end of each cleaning cycle into the base, which will self emptying robot vacuum and mop-empty. The bin can hold up to 60 days of debris, meaning it won't be required to empty it more than once unless your pets have long hair. If you must empty it, all you have to do is untie the side bin, put it over a trash container and press a button to empty the contents.

There's nothing to dislike about the Shark IQ XL, although it is a little less robust than the Roomba 694. It's good of cleaning carpeted floors however, it's not as effective as the iRobot Roomba i7 when it comes to bare floor performance. The i7 is also built better and feels more durable and sturdy, has less maintenance requirements, is able to charge lower monthly costs, and is faster to charge, and offers comparable battery performance, and comes with far more advanced automation features, such as no-go zones and the capability to select specific rooms for a clean.

4. iRobot J7+

This robotic mop and vacuum combo is a rare beast that does both jobs well. iRobot Combo j7+ has all the smarts and features similar to its j7 counterpart including LiDAR map and self-emptying. However, it also has additional features for vacuuming and mopping.

The j7+ utilizes the new acoustic sensor to detect the type of floor and allows it to clean or mop the area during its initial pass. It also uses this info to prioritize cleaning rooms that have carpet or rug flooring over rooms with hard floors.

As with most robotic vacuum cleaner self emptying vacuums the j7+ is quiet when it's running, and even less noisy when it's mopping. The highest reading we could get on our decibel meter was 64db, which is similar to the sound of normal office chatter.

It's easy to set a schedule for cleaning and adjust what the j7+ does when its dust container is full. The j7+ is also controlled by voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant and others. The app lets you create and view maps within your home.

The j7+ performed well in our tests on both carpeted and hard flooring, and was able to remove most of the dirt that we threw its way. It has a hard time with pet hair, large pieces of debris and sand. However, it is able to clean them with a little more effort. It also has decent navigation abilities and a pair of cliff sensors to stop it from falling down stairs or getting stuck on furniture legs.

We did find a couple of small niggles with the j7+, mostly that it could snag rugs and cords and that it doesn't always switch off its mopping when done vacuuming. This is a great model that ticks all the boxes.

iRobot j7+ has also one of the most efficient auto-emptying systems we've examined. It dumps its 14oz/0.4-liter dust canister into the base station, and it automatically emptys itself. This reduces the amount of garbage you need to dispose of and you'll only need to replace the reusable dust bag from the dock every 60 days or so, depending on how often you use the J7+.
