Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

The best method to keep your home tidy is with a robot vacuum. It can remove pet hair, dust, and other surface debris.

Certain robots can connect to smart assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a hands-free experience. Look for models that can recharge and then resume cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot S8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combination is a great choice for many homes. It vacuums and mops well and is extremely navigable using both GPS and laser sensors and comes with a variety of controls and features available via the app. It also has a handy feature that allows you to add Cleaning zones for certain areas that need extra attention, and also to keep Out zones where you do not want it to go. It also gets software updates, similar to the other Roomba products, which make it better over time.

It's costly however, it's also among the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has evaluated. It comes with a powerful battery that can clean a large area in less than two hours. Additionally, it can switch between mopping and vacuuming at the touch of a button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the dust bin after each run, this one automatically empties into a larger waste container above its charging dock.

It also comes with a variety of other features, Vacuum robot mop such as intelligent obstacle avoidance which uses cameras and processor-powered smarts to recognize obstacles. It's not often tripped or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests, it was the best in avoiding objects such as power cables. However, it's not as reliable at detecting pet waste or other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

While the Anker-owned Eufy has earned its name in budget robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that offers a range of advanced features, and can compete with more expensive models.

The laser navigation is the main selling point of this machine. The X8 utilizes a laser mapping system that is more precise than the previous Eufy devices. It takes less time to build an accurate map of your home. It also has the ability to store multiple maps. This is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is still a good automatic vacuum on floors with no dust that can carry debris under its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. Its tyres are also very adept at hugging edges and corners even though they're circular. It's not a fantastic cat litter eater, however as our tests show it is able to remove around 90 percent of the fur off hard floors.

There's a basic mopping option that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is ideal for spills that aren't dangerous, but you are unable to regulate the amount of water it consumes. However, it does an admirable job of removing pet hair, with a higher pickup rate than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, effective appliances. It has a beautiful design, superb navigation and a powerful cleaning power. It has a few oddities in its operation that keep it from being considered the best smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system that makes use of LIDAR to map a room and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once the room has been mapped it is possible to designate virtual no-go areas and sections that you would like to be the robot. You can also manually change cleaning modes, start cleaning manually or watch a live feed of the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors are effective by registering furniture and obstructions in real-time. The suction and sweeping power are top of the line, picking up surface litter from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust on floors that are unfinished. It's not the most powerful robot available. It's not the most efficient climber and has issues with metal threshold transition strips.

However, it's essential that a robot is able to get the job done and that's why our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most popular ones to help you choose the right one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a black friday robot vacuum deals that looks just like the other, but it has several more features and better performance. Its smart mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your home and uses them to navigate around and stay clear of obstructions. It's even able to spot common obstacles such as furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, along with a bump sensor and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it off the stairs is what makes it one of the most agile vacuums we've tried.

It was able to walk over carpets with thick shags and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for flooring and carpet beat the competition, and it picked up 98.5% of pet hair from our lab test samples.

Its controls are a bit simpler than the competitors. There's an oblong cleaning button at the top and you can launch it via the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for your daily or weekly cleans, create no-go zones, and see the history of its cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is accessible to empty, and the removal of the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a good option if you're looking for a robot vacuum that's simple and doesn't have any frills at a cost that is low. It lacks some of the smart features, like digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in higher-end models but if you don't need these features, you can save a little money by purchasing this model.

The robot is easy to setup and use. It does not require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However, it does come with a remote control which allows you to choose between various modes and adjust the suction levels. You can also manually set the robotvac to an cleaning schedule.

During our tests, the 11S was extremely efficient in removing dirt and pet hair from hard floors and carpets with low pile. Its slim profile allowed it to reach under furniture and other low objects that larger robots could not reach. It was able to pass easily over thresholds of doors and transition from one type of floor to another.

The 11S, just like other robots will also suckup some items, including cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can prevent this from happening by keeping these items off the ground and using a cord organiser whenever possible. It also recommends cleaning the dustbin on a regular basis by replacing the filters and washing or changing the brushes as needed.

6. iRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba 980 is iRobot's flagship robot Vacuum Robot mop. It's expensive but it's the best robot vacuum you can buy. Its self-navigating capabilities and environmental mapping are a wonder to behold. It has more advanced automation than the majority of its competitors, such as the capability to set up virtual boundary markers using its mobile application. It's a powerful robot vacuum, even though its application is a bit slow and the 980's wheels spin out when rolling over cables.

We really like the 980 because it uses its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM) to remember your home's floor plan. It will then use this information to design a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient robot vacuum than most high-end robots.

The 980's other features include two multi-surface rubber brushes which grab dirt from hard floors and carpet, along with the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensors for floor tracking help it navigate around furniture and along edges, and Cliff Detect keeps the Roomba from falling down stairs. It also automatically returns to its base station to ensure hassle-free recharging between sessions. While the 980's battery life and bin size aren't as good as those of other robot vacuums it's a reliable and solid machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours and hours.
