1. iRobot s8

It isn't often entangled or stuck during a cleaning cycle and is the best at avoiding power cables and other objects in my tests. However, it isn't as reliable at detecting pet waste and other dangers.

2. Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid

Eufy owned by Anker, has become an established brand in the world of low-cost robot vacuums. However, it didn't provide the option of a model that could mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive suite of advanced features and can compete well against more expensive models.

Laser navigation is the primary selling point of this machine. The X8 utilizes the laser mapping system, which is more accurate than previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to construct an accurate map of your home and can store multiple maps, which is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a good vacuum cleaner for floors with no dust. It is able to effortlessly sling debris under the side brushes and into its 400ml dustbin. The tyres are adept at securing corners and edges, even though they're circular. It's not a great kitty litter picker, though, with our tests showing it can only remove about 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

The basic mopping mode utilizes the same reservoir of water as the vacuuming mode. While this is a good option for loose spills but you cannot control how much water it uses which can limit its effectiveness when dealing with more severe stains. That said, it does an excellent job of removing pet hair, with a better percentage of hair removal than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Awarded for its quiet and efficient home appliances Miele's RX2 robot Vacuum Mop Cleaner Robot comes with outstanding cleaning power, stunning design and excellent navigation. There are a few niggles in its operation that prevent it from being named the top smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping technique which uses LIDAR to map an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and staying clear of obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). Once mapped the app allows you to assign virtual no-go areas and preferred areas that the robot will clean automatically. You can also initiate cleaning manually or change the cleaning mode, view live feeds from the cameras onboard and more on the main screen.

The RX2 is equipped with excellent sensors that detect furniture and other obstructions immediately. Its sweeping and suction power are top-of-the-line cleaning up surface debris from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust on floors that are unfinished. But it's not the most efficient robot available. It's not the most efficient climber and has issues with transition strips made of steel.

Some people buy robot vacuums for the convenience of setting up a schedule in an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. However, it's essential that a robot can get the job done and that's the reason why our ZDNet staff tested and reviewed several of the most well-known models to help you select the best one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This round, budget robovac looks just like a typical robot, but it's an upgrade in terms of performance and features. Its intelligent mapping system creates 3D and 2D maps of your home, and uses them to navigate and avoid obstacles. It's even able to spot common obstructions such as power cords and furniture legs in real-time. This combination of sensors with a bump detector, and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum off stairs makes it one of our most flexible vacuums.

It was able to climb over the thick shag carpets and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690-). Its navigation skills were impressive. Its composite score for flooring and carpet was higher than the competition, and it picked up 98.5 percent of dirt and embedded dog hair that we tested in our lab samples.

The controls are more basic than those of competitors. The 11S, like other robots, can also eat some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you keep these items off the ground and using a cord organiser when you can. It also recommends that you regularly clean the dustbin, change the filters and clean or change the brushes when needed.

6. IRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum. It's costly but it's a top performer and is arguably the most sophisticated robot vacuum you can purchase. Its self-navigating capabilities and environmental mapping are something to behold. It also has more advanced automation features than most competitors, including the ability to set virtual boundary lines with its mobile app. It's a powerful robot vacuum, even if the app is a bit sluggish and the 980 spins out when it comes across cables.

One thing we love about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will use this data to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than most high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes which grab dirt from floors and carpets and an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum’s bin. The sensor for floor tracking assists it in maneuvering through furniture, along edges and up the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. And it automatically returns to its base station for hassle-free recharges between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as great as some other robot vacuums. However, it's an extremely reliable and sturdy machine that will keep floors clean for a long time. hours.
