It's not perfect and there are times when it gets stuck on things such as tangled cables or odd toys or books.

The S7 Max Ultra can be operated via its smartphone app. This is where you will find all the sophisticated features that set it apart from other robot vacuums and mop cleaners. There are also specific room mopping and cleaning settings as well as a schedule planner and power strength selections for vacuuming and mopping. You can also integrate the S7 Max Ultra with Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa to create a smart home. Its extensive feature set means the S7 Max Ultra can do almost anything a standard robot vacuum does, but at a fraction of the cost.

The S7 Max Ultra vacuuming is remarkable. It did an excellent job at removing pet fur, dirt, and other particles, both on carpet and hard floors. The automatic dustbin emptying feature was flawless in our tests. This was very and reassuring. It also boasts 5100 Pa HyperForce suction rating, which is considerably higher than the 2,500Pa performance of the S6 MaxV and Best Self Emptying Robot Vacuum S7.

The S7 Max Ultra mopping performance was also satisfactory, but not the most efficient. It employed a microfiber mop which can absorb liquids and use sonic vibrating technology to scrub floors with up to 3,000 revolutions per minutes. This was a bit quicker than the X1 Omni circular pads which spin at 180 rotations per minute. The S7 Max Ultra's ReactiveAI 2.0 obstacle recognition system was extremely good. During our tests, it never got stuck on anything, and it avoided curtains, power cords and other potential obstructions 100% of the time.

2. Narwal Freo

It's a chore that is dreaded by many, yet it is essential to keep your home spotless. It's a messy, often smelly job that is difficult to complete, as it involves dirty water, dustbins and the necessity to ensure that any debris or hair isn't clogging traps or brushes. Robots that vacuum and mop are becoming very popular. However, a lot of these machines still require users to manually empty the dust bin, wash and wash the mop pads. This is a hassle especially if it's necessary to do this several times in between cleaning sessions. We're glad to see that certain manufacturers are introducing self empty robot vacuum and mop-emptying robots that make this process much easier.

The Narwal Freo, the newest version of the robotic cleaner category, comes with a number of enhancements in sensors, software and hardware that are designed to keep it on the leading edge. The patent-pending DirtSense Technology and Smart-Swing feature both work to better detect the surface that is being cleaned, and alter the cleaning method based on the floor type. The Narwal Freo is also quiet when in suction mode with only 63dB. The Freo's maintenance isn't completely hands-free however. You'll need to clean the primary brush roll as well as the side brushes periodically.

3. Ecovacs Deebot T9+

The Ecovacs Deebot T9+ is available at The Good Guys (for $1279) and is among the most advanced self-emptying robots that mop and vacuum combos. It can plan out your home and mop and vacuum while avoiding obstacles. It can even spray an air freshener.

The app creates a digital map of your house which can be used to clean. It's easy to install. The app allows you to select certain rooms or areas to be cleaned. You can also choose the time of day you'd like it start working, so your floors are clean while you're sleeping or away.

In our tests during our tests, the T9+ was awe-inspiring when it came to navigating obstacles. It tends to take a slightly manic route around the house. This usually meant that it ended up in the same place it had started cleaning minutes earlier. It didn't happen very often but enough to be noticed.

The T9+ comes with a selection of accessories including the robot cleaner, docking station, and an automatic-emptying station. The mopping module, and the dust bin replacement are available separately.

Its upgraded navigation systems as well as obstacle detection are designed to guarantee a clean clean of your home without interruptions. The updated 3D detection and obstacle avoidance technology recognises objects with high-precision resolutions to prevent collisions or disturbances.

I was able to control the Combo J7+ through the mobile application, which is user-friendly and well-designed. It also works with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa which means you can tell it to begin cleaning by speaking. The only downside was the small water tank on the Combo J7+, which means you must refill it regularly or Self Empty Robot Vacuum Mop limit the mopping to smaller spaces and run it more frequently in eco-mode.

Another drawback is that the Combo J7+'s dust bin is tiny, and you have to empty it manually. The Combo mop pads were also less effective than other brands. This is a pity as this robot is otherwise excellent.
