Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Then, place the fob on an even surface, with the logo side facing upwards. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin in between the fob cover and the fob, and carefully pull it up.

Unlocking the Door

Hold your key fob with Volvo logo facing up to unlock or lock the manual lock. Locate the black button that is near the edge of the body of your key fob and press it gently to open a cover which conceals the manual key blade. This cover can be flipped counterclockwise by using a flathead or coin.

The Engine is Ready to Start

Modern Volvo key fobs provide an ease of use and function that is unmatched by traditional manual keys. But, Volvo Spare Key as with any battery-powered electronic device key fobs may lose its charge or stop functioning over time. If you've noticed that your key fob has become less responsive when you press the lock or unlock buttons, that's a good sign that it's in need of a replacement battery.

If your vehicle is fitted with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also utilize the key fob to activate this feature. The car will then heat or cool to the same temperature it was set to when parked. It will run for up to 15 minutes.

Take off the back cover of the key fob by using your fingernail. Under the cover and on a diagonal at the edge of body, you should find a button. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will come open and slide off, revealing the manual key blade within! If you're still having trouble finding the button, you can search the newly exposed manual key access to see whether there's a hidden slot or lever.

Closing the Windows

One of the lesser-known features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that you can lower all windows instantly when you use the fobs. This is very useful when you are trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or just need some fresh air while driving.

Press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and also the sunroof if it comes with one. When you're finished with the vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.

You can also use your key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. It will create the alarm sound loud enough to draw attention and deter thieves. It can also help you to get home safely when you've been out all night. This feature is handy should you reside in an area that is dangerous, or want to ensure the safety of your family when you are away from home.

The opening of the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob is packed with many useful features. They are great when you're busy shopping for grocery shopping or helping your kids load up their sports equipment after practice.

If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) then you can open it by using the key fob. Simply press the button to open it, then press the same button to close it once you're done.

Use the key fob to ensure you are ready to start the vehicle. (Don't worry if the battery is dead or if the vehicle doesn't start, because it also has a mechanical key slot). This is only one of the many tricks you can use to use with your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide a great deal of convenience over a conventional mechanical car key. However, they don't work flawlessly forever, and their batteries can eventually die. If you're in a hurry or do not want to visit an establishment to have your key fob programmed, you can try to make it work at home.

Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and any other keys. Find the small black button located at the bottom left corner of the key fob, then slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade that is mechanical beneath.

Press the key fob's unlock button two times quickly, and you should be able opening all the doors as well as the tailgate. By pressing the lock button for 2 seconds, you can also close the windows and sunroof when they're equipped. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owners manual should have a way to reset the alarm.
