The Sennheiser Momentum 4s have an excellent ANC feature, a convenient on-ear control, and a convenient app. Its default sound delivers an energizing thump. However, instruments and vocals can be put in the background.

1. Sony WH-1000XM5

The Sony WH-1000XM5 is an excellent pair of headphones for those who love music and need the best wireless headset. The headphones are light, have a soft carrying bag and fold flat to fit into your bag. The touch controls are intuitive and simple to use, and the battery will last for 30 hours without ANC. They even have an auto-pause feature that will turn off your headphones when they are removed from your head in order to save battery.

The WH1000XM5 works with Sony Headphones Connect, which includes a range of features that can be utilized to personalize the audio experience. The app can be used to monitor your location and adjust the sound quality of Unleash Your Audio Bliss with 52 Hr Playtime! environment. The microphone is also included for hands-free phone calls. The Sony WH1000XM5 plays music wirelessly through Bluetooth or wired with the cable that comes with. They can support aptX, HD aptX and aptX Adaptive codecs that provide high-quality audio via Bluetooth.

Like the XM4, the WH1000XM5 is light and comfortable with comfortable headbands and ear cups. These headphones are comfortable to wear and can be worn for extended periods. They're also great for long commutes and flights. They feature excellent noise canceling performance that blocks out most background noise while maintaining clarity and detail. The Sony WH-1000XM5 offer a decent amount of bass for a pair of closed-back headphones. They also provide a great soundstage, with a clear separation of vocals and instruments.

They have a very low latency for watching videos which is a benefit. The lag is so minimal that it's practically imperceptible and they can be used for casual games. They're not the best for video gaming competitively but they're excellent for those who want to utilize them for entertainment or to make hands-free calls.

Sony is dedicated to incorporating smart features into its products, and the WH1000XM5 is no different. The active noise cancellation is one of the best I've tried and they offer many clever features that will enhance your listening experience. They also include Sony's DSEE Extreme engine which upscales compressed music to near hi-res quality. They're also compatible with Sony's own LDAC technology which streams higher-bitrate audio over Bluetooth (although not as hi-res as the headphone DAC that's dedicated).

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Since the launch of the first-generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have been regularly featured on top wireless headset lists, putting them firmly in the same category as the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose's QuietComfort. The PX7 S2 is the latest version that takes the original headphones to the next level with improved ANC performance as well as a new appearance.

The 40mm bio-cellulose drivers in the earcups are placed in a way that they directly hit your eardrums. This provides a more intimate audio experience than most other closed-back headphones. It's a bold claim however, one that the PX7 S2 can deliver on. The vocals are Sporty Design - Clear Sound: Wireless Bluetooth Earphones, and the bass is deep when it's needed.

The PX7 S2 is also very adept at making voice calls. It has a crisp, clear sound that does not overpower your voice. They also provide a fast charge that gets you back to full power in just two hours. They're also compatible with high-resolution audio, thanks to an aptX adaptive Bluetooth codec that enables them to play music with 24-bit resolution.

The noise-canceling technology and the improved audio performance are among the most important improvements for the majority of listeners. In our tests we were able eliminate nearly all of the airplane noises simulated by the PX7 S2. They also excelled in Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus which offer great insight into the shifting dynamics between the solo vocal, wind trio and orchestral accompaniment.

The PX7 S2s aren't just noise-cancelling, they also come with a range of other features that make them highly competitive with other top-rated headphones. They're wireless and come with Bluetooth multipoint support, meaning that you can pair with two devices simultaneously. They also come with built-in microphones that allows for hands-free calls with your phone's assistant. The construction is sturdy and high-end, so they should last for a long time.

They're not perfect, but they are. The clamp force on our test models was a bit more pronounced than we'd like, and there aren't as numerous additional features on the app as other options, but these are minor complaints. The PX7 S2s is a fantastic wireless headset that rivals other competitors in its class. It's hard to imagine any other competitor beating them.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless

Focal Bathys is a great choice for audiophiles that value high-fidelity and are searching for a wireless noise-canceling headphone. They're the French audio company's first ANC headphones that utilize Bluetooth and offer amazing sound quality both in Bluetooth mode and when connected to an device via USB for true hi-fi listening with up to 24 bits/192kHz (the headphone is also capable of blocking external sound with its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning, with their glossy black finish and swooping curves that are reminiscent of Focal's premium open-back Elear and closed-back Celestee headphones. They also come with premium materials like magnesium and aluminum to create a robust build that is comfortable, solid and worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones deliver crisp, vibrant sound signature. They are able to outperform consumer ANC devices with similar prices like the Sony XM5/5 and Bose QC45. They can be enhanced further by using direct DAC audio mode which makes them a great choice for serious hi-fi enthusiasts.

Utilizing the Focal and Naim app, users can adjust their headphone's playback controls, virtual assistant, and Bluetooth pairing preferences. You can select between silent or soft intensities for ANC and adjust the brightness of the LEDs on the headphone's ear cups, and tweak settings for EQ. The app is fairly bare-bones but has enough features to warrant its purchase.

The only issue is the active noise cancellation, which doesn't live up to the quality of the competition. The headphone doesn't cut out all ambient noise like the top-rated XM5 or AirPods Max, and its treble accuracy is subpar, with a muddy mid to high frequency that impedes the sound of instruments and vocals.

The Focal Bathys headphones aren't the most transportable. They are not suitable for travel since their earcups don't fold and they weigh more than other models. The Bathys are best utilized at home for long listening sessions, or as an audio reference headset for sound engineering. The Bathys are comfortable to wear over long periods of time, despite their size and bulk.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WH-CH720N are an excellent pair of wireless headphones that are worth the price. The noise cancelling technology is fantastic and helps to cut down the background noise. They are great for those who commute or travel. They also add an appealing high-end look with their robust construction and attractive matte finish.

They are similar to Sony's 1000X and XB910N earphone models. They feature an ultra-slim headband that has the typical ear cup hinges, and a durable plastic build. They are lightweight and comfortable, but they feel a bit too compressed to my liking. They come with a USB-C charging port, 3.5mm jack and a decent-length cable included in the box. They support multipoint Bluetooth, which means you can connect to two devices simultaneously should you wish to.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid technology for noise cancellation did a great job of reducing ambient sound. There were only a few glitches while walking around Waterloo Station and London Victoria. These weren't magical sound-silencers which blocked out every sound however, and they struggled with lower frequency noises such as the rumbling engine noises of trains and buses.

Streaming music over the CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth, and it showed a low amount of harmonic distortion. I listened to a variety of genres and found they were able to handle the intricate interplay between instruments quite well. It did an excellent job of taming the bass in rock tracks while keeping the focus of the mix.

I love the ability to adjust the Sony Headphones Connect app to customize the CH720N's ANC and multipoint connectivity settings to suit your preferences, as well as add a variety of audio presets. You can also make use of the app to enable DSEE, which upsacles compressed content and improves its audio quality.

The WH-CH720N is a good value for PS130. It isn't equipped with some of Sony's most popular features (such as Speak-toChat and Quick Attention) but it has a lot of excellent features. You get access to 360 Reality Audio and a range of smart controls, as well as the aforementioned DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing missing is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support, Sporty Design - Clear Sound: Wireless Bluetooth Earphones which I believe would have been a welcome inclusion.
