It also comes with a Virtual Wall, which creates an invisible barrier that the Roomba will be unable to cross.

The 960 performed well during our tests, especially on bare floors. It sucked up a lot of food crumbs, cat litter and dirt that was tracked in. It's also adept at climbing over obstacles, such as stair runners and the legs of chairs and tables. It sucked up pet hair, self-emptying vacuum and it also did struggle with some smaller pieces of debris, such as baking soda.

One thing that separates the 960 from other Roomba models is that it uses a separate dustbin for large particles that reduces maintenance requirements. You can empty the bin by pressing a button through the iRobot Home app or with voice commands from Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant.

The iRobot HOME App allows you to customize each cleaning cycle. You can set the number passes, and choose from different modes such as edge clean, or a complete room sweep. It will also send an alert when it's nearly to empty the dirt container.

The 960 is simple to use, with buttons on the top and buttons in the iRobot HOME app or through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It's also easy to maintain and has an indicator on the top that displays the battery's life and docking station that automatically transfers debris from the dirt compartment to the trash bin when you're ready to empty it.
