Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers are enthralled by the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle or start the motor and even locate it via the smartphone app.

Place the fob's face up on a clean surface. Find the button that will release it. Put a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, then gently pull it up.

Locking the Doors

To unlock the manual lock or unlock button, hold your key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards. Find the black button close to the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover that hides the key blade that is manual. You'll require a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip the cover counterclockwise, so the arrow is aligned with "open."

Start the Engine

Modern Volvo key fobs provide an experience of convenience and function that is unmatched by manual keys. Key fobs, like any other battery-operated device will lose charge over time. If you notice that your key fob becomes less responsive when you press the lock or unlock button, it may be time to replace the battery.

If your vehicle is fitted with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also make use of the key fob in order to activate this feature. The vehicle will then cool or [Redirect-307] heat to the same setting it was set to when parked, and it will operate for up to 15 minutes.

Remove the cover that covers the back of the key fob using your fingernail. Under the cover on a diagonal, close to the body's edge, there is an unidentified button. Slide it down and then to the right. The cover will then come free and slide away leaving the manual key blade in! If you are unable to locate the button, look around the newly revealed manual key access to find the lever or slot that is hidden.

Close the Windows

Volvo key fobs come with an in-built feature that lets you to immediately roll down all windows. This is a fantastic feature to have when trying to squeeze into a tight parking space, or just to get fresh air in your cabin while driving.

To unlock the windows do this, press and hold down the unlock button on your volvo new key Cost remote for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and also the sunroof in case your car has one. When you're done with the car you can lock everything by pressing the lock button for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob to activate your car's panic alarm. It will sound a loud, attention-grabbing blare that could frighten away thieves and help you get home safely after a long night out. This feature is great when you reside in a hazardous area or wish to keep your family safe while away from home.

Opening the Tailgate

Volvo's key fob is packed with a variety of useful features. These are great when you're slammed with groceries or helping kids pack their sports gear after a workout.

If you have the Hands Free Liftgate with Logo Projection and Programmable Height (if equipped) You can open it by using the key fob. It is possible to open the liftgate by pressing the button and then close it with the same button.

When you're ready to get your car started then use the key fob to push the START button (and don't be concerned about your battery going out or your car not starting because it comes with a backup mechanical key slot too). This is just one of the many tricks that can be useful for your new Volvo.

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide a lot of convenience over a standard mechanical car key. They don't always work perfectly and batteries may be dead. You can try to program your key fob at home in case you are in a hurry or don't have time go to the shop.

Set out your key fobs, batteries, and extra keys on a clean surface. Place the key fob on the surface with the Volvo logo facing up and then find a small black button at the left-hand side of the fob and slide it to the right. The cover will fall off and reveal the key blade that is mechanical underneath.

You can unlock all doors and the reargate by pressing the unlock button on the fob's keypad twice. The lock button also closes the sunroof and windows (if equipped) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If it does not, the owner's instructions should include a reset procedure.
