Key fobs today do much more than simply unlock and start the vehicle. They also control the windows and sunroof. Therefore, they are expensive to replace if you damage or lose them.

It's possible to change the fob's battery yourself and save money. Here's how: Find an opening on the fob's key and insert the tool.

Battery

Modern key fobs are useful and practical, however they do require a bit of maintenance to ensure their operation. Over time the battery inside your fob will lose power and you'll need to replace it. You'll require a CR2032 3V coin cell battery that can be found in a lot of stores that sell batteries or online. The battery is usually smaller than a disc with an plus or minus symbol on it. When handling the battery, be careful because it could leak when your hands are filthy. The leak could cause damage to the circuit board, making it less likely to function well in the future.

Programming

The key fob for your car today is more than just an accessory for your vehicle. It's also an electronic remote control that can manage various systems.
