After the pockets have been removed, the sash can be re-bedded in a new glazing compound. Homeowners can create drip caps at home using sheets of aluminum, a vice, and a few simple tools. To make this happen, the homeowner must first remove or pry up the top row of the window. Then, they will be able to cut the drip-cap to a length that is slightly larger than the size of the window. After the drip cap has been cut, it's slipped under the tape, and then nailed with galvanized nails onto the sheathing. The cap should be nailed on both ends and firmly secured to the sheathing.
