However, they can be utilized with a service key that does not require a battery.

Immobiliser Systems

Immobiliser systems are electronic security measures that prevent thieves from starting your car. The chip inside the key responds by sending a unique code which must match that of the vehicle to allow it to start. If the codes do not match, the engine won't start - even if an armed robber attempts to short-circuit the ignition circuit.
