Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)

After a series of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally revealed its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key is being developed in collaboration with an unidentified artist and based upon advanced carbon fiber composite materials that were sent to the International Space Station as research material, is a new project which was announced by Lamborghini.

The physical element of Space Key

After weeks of social media posts that hinted at it, luxury automobile manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. The project is dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock an exclusive digital artwork NFT by the unidentified artist. It was created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm), the 'collector's piece' is limited to five units and will be auctioned off in the near future.

Each Space Key contains a block comprised of the most advanced carbon-fire composite material. It was sent to the International Space Station as part of a research project for 2019. After returning to Earth the block was engraved with QR codes that connect to the digital element within the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs a few seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Each of five images was shot by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used an inflatable camera with a lens to capture individual images, which were later combined into the final photo. The result is an out-of-this world image that captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyper-realistic image of the car erupting from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned off in the near future, but there is no specific date or time yet.

The auction
