Exterior

The Aventador SVJ isn't easy to drive, particularly when pushed hard. Its huge V12 engine is built to destroy racetracks, and tickling its redline produces an ominous sound that could scare back off a starving Tyrannosaurus Rex. Even in its supposedly safe Strada mode the Aventador SVJ's engine can smack you in the back and force you to reconsider your life choices.

The best aspect of the Aventador SVJ isn't how fast it can go, or how much it is able to out-gun a Chevy Suburban on racetracks. It's not speed or the speed at which you can go, but rather the reactions of those who watch the car you drive. It's like cleaning the roads "Marie Kondo", to use a phrase from the book with the same name. The Aventador SVJ loves to make people look around and stop. Interior

The striking design of the fighter plane of the cabin (start button hidden behind the red flip cover; shifter that resembles the accelerator of a jet) is complete with levers for controlling driving modes and customizing performance settings. There are plenty of faux-suede trim and carbon fiber, while the infotainment display and the reconfigurable gauges are straight from the back of an Audi. The back seat can be used by two or three people, dependent on how seating arrangement is set up.

Under the louvered carapace the 6.5-liter V12 delivers 770 horsepower and 720 pound-feet of torque. Lamborghini claims to be able to go from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds, and reach a top speed of over 217 miles per hour.

The air-vectoring system is enjoyable to use and you can see it in action on the instrument panel (though you shouldn't be looking at gauges while driving at high speeds in which this technology shines). The brakes are stiff to start but stop the SVJ with ferocity and a consistency worthy of the great white shark.

Unless you are a sober person who requires sensible fuel economy and room for five people, the SVJ isn't worth a look. If you're a dreamy smiler who has a dreamy smile on your face every when a tuned Italian V12 that was built in the 1970s and powered by six Weber Twin carburetors fires up, it could be a good fit for you. If the engine of the raging bull is as impressive as its exterior, then all the better.

Performance

Lamborghini continues to shift away from its land shark design with the SVJ and to create a contemporary car that is easily driven and can be driven by any driver. However, the SVJ has plenty of brutal power and a lot of design. The 6.5-liter V12 accelerates from 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 217 mph.

The second-generation Aerodinamica & Lamborghini Attiva system (ALA 2.0) allows for a change in the airflow around the car in accordance with the driving conditions. The flaps on the front of the wing are open for downforce while the flaps at the rear close to reduce drag. A split-wing feature may redirect air left or right, increasing the downforce that is generated in a particular direction.

A more focused mode of driving called Strada optimizes the suspension, engine, and steering for street use. The Corsa mode focuses everything on performance on the track, while Ego allows the driver to alter the car's settings.
