The WH-1000XM5 are compatible with Sony's Headphones Connect app which offers an extensive array of features and can be used to tailor your audio experience. The app is able to monitor your location and alter ambient sound features according to the environment you are in. The microphone can also be integrated for hands-free calls. The Sony WH-1000XM5 is able with music streaming via Bluetooth or with an electrical connection via the cable included. They can support aptX, HD aptX and aptX Adaptive codecs to deliver high quality audio over Bluetooth.

The WH-1000XM5 has a similar headband and earcups as the XM4 however it is lighter and more comfortable. They're comfortable to wear for long periods and are comfortable enough for long commutes and flights. They're noise cancelling headphones that can reduce background noise, but not compromise clarity or clarity. The Sony WH1000XM5 headphones have plenty of bass, Wireless bt headphones especially for closed-back headphones. They also have an impressive soundstage and clear distinction between vocals and instruments.

They have a very low latency for watching videos, which is a benefit. The lag is so minimal that it's barely noticeable, and they can also be used for casual gaming. These are not the best for video gaming competitively, but they're great for those who wish to utilize them for entertainment or to make hands-free calls.

Sony is committed to incorporating smart features into its products and the WH1000XM5 is no exception. The active noise cancellation is one of the best I've tried and they come with a suite of smart functions to improve the overall listening experience. Sony's DSEE Extreme Engine upscales compressed audio to near-high-resolution quality. They're also compatible with Sony's LDAC technology that streams audio with higher bitrates over Bluetooth (although not as hi-res as a dedicated headphone DAC).

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Since the release of the first generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have been regularly included on the top lists of wireless headsets and putting them in the same bracket as the likes of Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose's QuietComfort. The PX7 S2 is the latest version that takes the original headphones to the next level, with a boost in ANC performance and a refreshed appearance.

The bio-cellulose drivers that measure 40mm inside the earcups are placed in a way that they point directly at your eardrums. This gives you an experience with more intimacy unlike other closed-back headphones. It's a bold claim, but one that the PX7 S2 delivers on. Vocals cut through clearly, and bass is rich and rumbly when you need it to be.

The PX7 S2 also performs very well when it comes to voice calls, with a clear and crisp audio that doesn't overpower your own voice. They also provide a fast charge that gets you back to full power in just two hours, and they're compatible with hi-res audio due to an adaptive Bluetooth codec that allows them to play 24-bit music.

For most listeners, though the most important change is the improved noise cancellation and audio performance. In our tests, we were able to remove nearly all airplane noises simulated by the PX7 S2. They also performed exceptionally well in Mozart's Et In Carnatus Est and Sanctus which provide excellent insight into the changing dynamics between the solo vocal, wind trio, and orchestral accompaniment.

The PX7 S2s are not only noise-cancelling, but they have a variety of other features that make them competitive with other top-rated headphones. They are fully wireless and feature Bluetooth multipoint support, which means you can pair with two devices at once. They also come with an inbuilt microphone which allows hands-free calls with your phone assistant. They're also incredibly robust, with a premium feel and durable construction that will last for a long time of regular use.

They're not perfect, but they are. The clamp force of the models we tested were a little more than we'd prefer, and Wireless Bt Headphones there weren't as many app features as the other options. But these are minor concerns. The PX7 S2s are a superb wireless headphone that rivals the top of their class, and it's difficult to imagine them being outclassed by any other rival.

3. Focal Bathys Wireless Bt Headphones

For audiophiles who prize high-fidelity and are searching for an exceptional wireless noise-canceling headset The Focal Bathys are difficult to beat. They're the French audio company's first-ever ANC headphones that use Bluetooth and they offer incredible sound quality both in Bluetooth mode and when connected to an device via USB for hi-fi audio with a maximum of 24 bits/192kHz (the headphone is also capable of blocking external sound through its closed ear cups).

The Bathys are stunning with their glossy finish and swooping curvatures that reminiscent Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear headphones. They also come with premium materials such as aluminum and magnesium for an extremely sturdy build that feels solid, comfortable and worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones offer a crisp, lively sound quality. They easily outperform consumer ANC devices with similar prices like the Sony XM5/5 or Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode allows them to be pushed further which makes them a fantastic option for those who love hifi.

With the Focal & Naim app, users can adjust the playback controls of their headphones, virtual assistant, and Bluetooth pairing preferences. Users can choose between silent or soft intensities for ANC as well as set the brightness of the LEDs on the ear cups, and adjust the EQ settings. The app is bare-bones, but it offers enough features to warrant the cost of downloading.

The only issue is the active noise cancellation, which doesn't measure up to the competition. The headphone doesn't cut out all ambient noise like the top-rated XM5 or AirPods Max, and its Treble accuracy is subpar with a muddy mid - to high-end that can be distracting from the sound of instruments and vocals.

The Focal Bathys aren't the most portable headphones. They are not suitable for travel because their earcups don't fold, and they weigh more than other models. The Bathys should be used at home for long listening sessions, or as an example headset for sound engineering. Despite their size and weight, the Bathys are surprisingly comfortable to wear for prolonged periods of time.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WHCH720N are an excellent pair of wireless over ear wirelss headphones for the price. The noise-cancelling technology is excellent and does a great deal to reduce the background noise. They are ideal for those who commute or travel. They also add an attractive design that reflects premium quality, thanks to their sturdy construction and appealing matte finish.

They are similar in design to Sony's newer 1000X and XB910N headphones. They feature a slim headband with the typical ear cup hinges and a solid plastic build. They are light and comfortable, however they're a bit compressed to my liking. In the box, they have an USB-C port to charge, a 3.5mm socket and a decent-length cable. They are multipoint Bluetooth which means that you can connect to two devices at once should you wish to.

In my tests the CH720N's hybrid tech for noise cancellation did an excellent job at reducing ambient noise. There were only a few small blips while walking through Waterloo Station and London Victoria. The sound-silencers did not block every sound around them however they struggled with lower frequency sounds like the engine rumbling sound of trains and buses.

The CH720N's Bluetooth connection was smooth and displayed a minimal harmonic distortion. I listened to a variety of genres and found they handled the intricate interplay between instruments very well. It did an impressive job of controlling the bass in rock tracks and keeping the focus of the mix.

I love the ability to adjust the Sony Headphones Connect app to modify the CH720N's ANC as well as multipoint connectivity settings to suit your preferences, as well as add a variety of audio presets. You can also activate DSEE via the app, which improves the quality of sound and boosts compression of audio files.

The WH-CH720N offers a great value for PS130. It lacks some of Sony's top features (such as Speak-to-Chat and Quick Attention) however it comes with many excellent features. You get access to 360 Reality Audio and a variety of smart controls as well as the aforementioned DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing that is missing is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support which I believe would have been a welcome inclusion.
