The WH-1000XM5 comes with a similar headband and earcups as the XM4 but is lighter and more comfortable. They're comfortable to wear for long periods and are comfortable enough for commutes as well as longer flights. They have good noise canceling performance that blocks out most background noise while maintaining clarity and detail. The Sony WH-1000XM5 offer a decent amount of bass for closed-back headphones. They also have a superb soundstage that has the clear separation of instruments and vocals.

The low latency is a big positive. The lag is so tiny that it's almost invisible, and they can also be used for casual gaming. They're not ideal for video gaming competitively, but they're great for those who want to use them for media consumption or for B uetooth headphones making hands-free calls.

Sony is very committed to including smart features into its products, and the WH-1000XM5 is not an exception. The active noise cancellation is one of the most effective I've ever tried, and they include a whole range of smart functions that enhance the overall listening experience. Sony's DSEE Extreme Engine upscales compressed audio to a near-hi-res format. They're compatible with Sony's LDAC technology which streams higher-bitrate music over Bluetooth.

2. Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2

Since the introduction of the first generation PX7 in 2015, Bowers & Wilkins' flagship headphones have often been featured on top lists of wireless headsets, putting them firmly in the same bracket as the likes Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose's QuietComfort. Its newest model, the PX7 S2, is an upgrade that takes the initial headphones to a new level, with better ANC performance as well as a fresh design.

In the earcups, the 40mm bio cellulose drivers are bent to point straight at your eardrums, delivering an audio experience that's more intimate than many other closed-back headphones can manage. Focal Bathys is the best option for audiophiles who appreciate high-fidelity and are searching for headphones that can be used wirelessly to block out noise. The Focal Bathys are the first ANC headphones from an French audio manufacturer to utilize Bluetooth. They provide incredible sound both in Bluetooth mode and when connected via USB to a device that supports true hi-fi listeners with a maximum of 24-bit/192kHz.

The Bathys are stunning with their glossy finish and swooping curvatures that are reminiscent Focal's closed-back Celestee and open-back Elear headphones. They also feature premium materials like magnesium and aluminum for an extremely sturdy build that feels solid, comfortable, and worth the price.

The Bathys Bluetooth headphones offer crisp, vibrant sound quality. They are able to outperform consumer ANC models of the same price like the Sony XM5/5 and Bose QC45. Direct DAC audio mode lets them be extended which makes them a fantastic choice for true hifi enthusiasts.

The Focal &Naim app lets users to adjust the playback controls of the headphone and Bluetooth pairing preferences. You can select between silent or soft intensities for ANC and set the brightness of the LEDs on the ear cups, and tweak EQ settings. The app is basic but has enough features to warrant its purchase.

4. Sony WH-CH720N

The Sony WHCH720N is a fantastic pair of wireless over-ear headsets for the price. The noise-cancelling technology is great and helps to cut down the background noise. They are perfect for commuters and travelers. They also add a nice design that reflects Premium Rydohi Over Ear Headphones – Rose Gold quality, thanks to their robust construction and attractive matte finish.

They are similar to Sony's 1000X and XB910N headphone models. They sport a slim headband with the standard earcup hinges, and a durable plastic construction. They are lightweight and comfortable, however they're a bit tight for my taste. In the box, they include an USB-C port to charge and an 3.5mm connector, and a decent-length cable. They allow multipoint Bluetooth pairing, which means you can connect them to two devices at the same time If you want to.

In my tests, the CH720N's hybrid technology for noise cancellation did a great job of reducing ambient noise. There were only a few noticeable blips when walking through Waterloo Station and London Victoria. The sound-silencers did not block every sound around them however they struggled with lower frequency sounds like the rumbling engine sounds of trains and buses.

The WH-CH720N is an excellent value for PS130. It lacks some of Sony's most popular features (such as Speak-toChat and Quick Attention) however, it does come with many great features. You can access 360 Reality Audio and a range of smart controls, and the aforementioned DSEE upscaling feature. The only thing that is not available is LDAC Bluetooth High-Res Audio Support which I believe would have been a welcomed inclusion.
