Narwal Robot Vacuum and Mop

A relative newcomer to the robotic vacuum market, Narwal offers a sweeping and mopping system that's impressive. It's expensive and hindered by a clunky, steeply learning-curve application.

To mop, you place a detergent sheet into the base station's water tank that is clean. Then, the pads are sprayed using clean water, and scrubs floors using 10N of pressure.

Features

The Narwal T10 robot vacuum can clean and scrub hard floors. Its intelligent mapping and navigation system is based on simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) technology. It also comes with anti-collision and cliff-sensing technology that help stop the machine from accidentally crashing into furniture or falling down stairs. Additionally, it is able to detect and avoid rugs which is a common issue with many hybrid robot vacuums and mops.

The robot has two large tanks of water, one for clean water and one for dirty. It automatically soaks the pads in clean water in the tank prior to a mopping session. During the mopping process, sensors alert you to when it's time to change pads and refill the water. It requires 16 ounces of water which is less water than other robots.

After you've cleaned the dirt off the mop pads the T10 will return to its base station and auto-dry them to avoid cross-contamination. It will then resume mopping where it began. The Narwal Freo does an outstanding job cleaning hard floors. The huge water tanks of the Narwal Freo are easy to maintain and it has a variety of mopping intensities. It can also clean up small spills and messes on carpet. Its vacuuming capabilities are less impressive, though. The use of smart technology for navigation and mapping allows the Freo to adapt to an area and plan a routine for cleaning that is optimized. Once it's marked, once it's mapped, the Freo can automatically begin cleaning where it left off. The Freo also conserves water by only using 16 oz of water for each mopping cycle, which is roughly what you'd get in a grande-sized coffee cup.

This robot is able to change between mopping and vacuuming, so it's an ideal choice for those who have both floors in their homes. The sweeping capabilities of this robot are outstanding, and it does an excellent job of removing dust, pet hair and other debris. The Freo's dual side brushes enable it to reach into corners better than single-brush vacuums, and its cliff-sensing and anti-collision features help prevent it from getting stuck on staircases or hitting furniture.

While it's a decent vacuum/mop combo, the Narwal T10 is pricier than most of its rivals. The Narwal T10's massive base station houses two 1.3 gallon tanks that have to be filled often. This can be annoying especially if you're accustomed to the tanks that fill faster of other robots. The app is messy and uninspiring, and lacks the features of customization you'd expect from a machine that costs more.

App

The Narwal robot mop and vacuum is a standout among the other robovacs that are available. While the majority of them boast excellent mopping and vacuuming capabilities, with a mopping feature the T10 was created to be a self-cleaning two-in-1 machine from the ground up. Its mopping, sweeping and other features are efficient and easy to manage using the narwal mobile application. Buttons on the base station allow manual adjustments in the middle of cleaning.
