It also comes with a sensor that can snap Roomba to its real-world location if it starts to move away from its original location.

iRobot has also added the option of rolling rollers under the Roomba that don't have bristles and therefore are more likely to resist the tangles that previous models. These rollers are also taller and can be tucked under beds or couches that are low. They're designed to make this model more movable on various flooring types.

The Roomba 980 differs from other high-end models by its brand new dirt detection feature that makes use of cameras to detect embedded dirt. This is a nice improvement over the previous version, which relied on a sensor-driven pseudorandom coverage technique to bounce around a room and clean at minimum three times from various angles.

Its score on the low pile carpet was very good and it scored a good score on mid pile, too. The iRobot Roomba is easy to set up and get working immediately. After removing the yellow bin insert and pull tab from the undercarriage, you simply plug it into the wall socket or one of its Home Base docking stations, click the "Clean button" and let it work. It will automatically return to its dock when its battery runs out or it's stuffed with debris. It also has indicators on the top for when its bin is full or it needs to be recharged or if its Wi-Fi signal has gone out.
