1. Eufy RoboVac G30 Edge

It's akin to an iPhone. This model is easier to use than past models and offers features such as BoostIQ that automatically increases suction power for better cleaning on all surfaces. Smart navigation can be used to avoid the repetition of the same area which is common when using bounce-navigation.

It does a great job picking up pet hair, crumbs, and dust on hard floors, but falls behind the best models when it comes to cleaning up carpets of flour. In our tests, it missed 74% of the dust on hard floors and Robot vacuum for dog hair 26% of the powder on carpet.

The G30 Edge is unique in its ability to map your home using digital maps. It can remember which rooms it has already cleaned and prevents it from returning to those rooms, a major frustration with simpler robots that rely on the use of traditional magnetic tape to delineate areas that are not allowed to enter.

The G30 Edge also has other features. It has a "Find My Robot" mode that blasts out loud music until it is located, and a directional keypad that allows you manually move the robot. It has an automatic return feature that can send the robot back to its charging station if the battery is low. This is a safety feature.

2. Neato Botvac D-Shape

The Neato Botvac D shape is an impressively capable robot with a plethora of features that are smart. It cleans floors that are bare well, and it can climb on carpets with a high pile easily. The app has advanced features, such as boundary lines remote access to the robot as it is in operation, and many other options.

This model is the most recent in a long series of robots from Neato and has a distinctive "D" shape when viewed from above. This design has several benefits such as improved corner cleaning and a larger dust bin than the majority of models. The D-shape allows the robot to get under furniture better than robots with a circular shape.

The D-Shape will stop briefly before beginning a cleaning process to use spinning infrared to scan and assess the area. Then, it will begin to clean in a grid and move in a systematic manner from one area to another until the floor is completely covered. This method of cleaning is more efficient and thorough than the random approach taken by certain competitors.

The design of the D-Shape allows it to have a massive, 700ml dust bin compared to 400-600ml for robots of similar price. That increased capacity means you'll need to empty the dust bin less often, which will save you time and effort. The D-Shape also has a flat front side that helps it get over obstacles like chairs and tables. In our tests, the D-Shape did get stuck under a stool with four legs and an electrical cord that was not covered but it was able to get out every time.

3. Roomba I3+ EV

The Roomba i3+ EVO is a fantastic option for pet owners. It is a great choice for hard floors and does a great job of clearing up particles like cereal, rice and hair of pets. It has some issues on carpet but is still superior to other robots in this price range. The Roomba EVO is also very adept at navigating between various floor types. It doesn't stall on transitions as older models. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes flex to adapt to different flooring types and resist getting caught in pet hair.

The i3+ EVO has weaker obstacle-avoiding capability than the other robots we tested. It frequently ran into objects like handbags, pet toys and shoes before continuing its path. It also had difficulty dealing with coarse kosher salt which it blew up and around instead of picking up.

The i3+ EVO is packed with features that make it worth the price over other Roomba models. It has an automatic emptying bin as well as advanced control through an app. It is possible to schedule cleaning and set up custom routines. You can also designate zones that block the robot from entering certain areas. Its intelligent scheduling can suggest additional cleanings during high allergy times in accordance with your routine. The navigational system is unstable, however, and sometimes vacuums in irregular lines, such as diagonals or zigzags rather than parallel to walls.

It was able to easily switch between surfaces in our tests, and was able to excel at getting pet hair off of carpets and hardwood floors. This is a good pick if you want an affordable robot vacuum cleaner for pet hair with extra features. It was able to negotiate obstacles well during our testing and can be controlled by an app or voice. It has a large dustbin for the collection of messes before they're full. It also had trouble collecting table salt on a floor that was not paved, as a lot of grains fell across the floor.

It allows voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant using an external device (sold separately). It is able to learn about your cleaning habits and creates personalized schedules. Cliff Detect and a edge-sweeping tool ensure that it is able to get into hard-to-reach places, while Dirt Detect sensors alert the robot to heavily soiled spots. It comes with a dust bin that automatically emptys and it has a battery life of around 60 minutes. The pricier iRobot J7 comes with a more advanced set of features and is more stable on all surfaces. It also feels better constructed, has a larger dustbin, charges faster, and is able to navigate obstacles such as electrical cords better.
