The robot is costly, but it's great for cleaning up spills and dust. It features advanced programming for efficient obstacle avoidance and it is able to set up zones for mopping or vacuuming in different rooms.

1. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

This robot vacuum and mops combine an attractive design and latest robotic technology. Its robust smartphone application lets you keep track of routine maintenance, such as emptying its tiny dust bin and cleaning the mop's pad between uses. It docks to an automatic self-emptying platform which cleans and empties it after each cleaning cycle. It is one of the few robots that have these features and performed well during our tests.

Roborock changed the design of its S8 Pro Ultra from last year's model, with a focus on improving the vacuum's ability to avoid objects and boosting its cleaning power. The result is a more efficient, reliable and cleaner machine. It has a more potent suction motor as well as two rubber rollers in its floorhead which aid in picking up debris from carpets and removing pet hair from carpet. Its battery can now last up to 180 minutes and supports scheduled charging to reduce the cost of electricity.

The most significant change is the robot's brand new RockDock Ultra docking station, that does more than empty and clean its contents after each cleaning cycle. It also washes the mop pad, dries it using warm air, and then refills its water tank. This alone is what makes it different from competitors because it significantly reduces the time and effort that you have to manage its maintenance.

In the box it comes with a power cable and S8 Pro Ultra is easy to set up. You'll need a Wi-Fi network to download the companion app and connect your docking station to an additional mop pad. After that, you're ready to get started cleaning.

In our tests, the S8 Pro Ultra picked up the most surface debris and embedded dirt on carpets with medium pile and unfinished floors. The S8 Pro Ultra's vacuuming performance isn't quite as good as that of our top choice, iRobot's Roomba j7+. However, it's nonetheless a capable and versatile machine that is well worth a look.

The app allows you to create a 3D map of your home as well as designate zones that are not to be visited and schedule specific cleaning timetables. The app also shows you a running log of cleaning times and coverage areas which allows you to view the performance of each room and areas. You can even assign a distinct cleaning mode to each area. If you have an Echo device or any other smart speaker, you can also add voice control through Alexa or Google Assistant.

The j7+, just like other iRobot products can be programmed to begin cleaning when you're away from home and stop when it's not done. It can be controlled by the iRobot App or smart speakers that can support Alexa and Google Assistant. It responds better to voice commands than the majority of other robots, including the $599 self-emptying robot vacuums Neabot NoMo N1.

The iRobot Genius App allows you to control the robot via either a smartphone or remote. It is also easy to set up the j7+ and customize other settings. It will even guide new users through an onboarding process that will aid the robot in understanding its home and outline its space for cleaning.

The j7+ comes with a bigger dust bin than many of the other Self empty cordless vacuum-emptying robot vacuums that we've tried. This allows it to hold more debris, but you'll need to empty it once every seven to eight months (or more frequently if you have many pet hairs or other large debris). iRobot sells filters and bags that can be replaced separately.

Another feature that is worth mentioning is the j7+'s front camera, which is advertised to help the robot identify dangers such as power cords and pet waste and to avoid them. The camera doesn't work as well in dim lighting, though you may want to look at a competitor that has a better camera, such as the Roborock S7 MaxV.

Lastly, I was pleased to find that the iRobot J7+ automatically empties its dust bin into the Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal when it's docked. This is a huge improvement over competitors that require you to open and empty the bag manually. This small detail will help you save time and frustration.

3. Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni

The Deebot T10 is a sleek robot that offers impressive cleaning performance. It features 5000Pa suction. It comes equipped with a main floating brush as well as dual-sided brushes that help get rid of dirt on hard floors and in corners. It has a strong battery that can power both mopping and vacuuming, with the ability to return to its dock if it's running low on power. Smart features include an interactive home map, 3D mapping, and automatic cleaning schedules.

The T10 Omni, as with other Deebot models, uses an additional tank to wash and dry its mopping pad in order to avoid cross-contamination. The T10 cleaning tank can hold up to 4L of clean water. This is enough to mop up 400m2. It features a unique design that allows it to be refilled and drained without touching the pad or getting wet.

One thing that makes the T10 apart from other robot vacuums is its advanced mapping technology that creates a detailed three-dimensional map of your home's layout. This enables the robot to better identify obstacles and adjust its navigation process and enhances the overall efficiency of cleaning.

The ECOVACS App is simple to use, and has various settings that can be customized. The only drawback is the absence of the remote control. This might be frustrating for certain users.

The T10 OMNI is great at cleaning pet hair. It was able remove the majority of the fur from my carpets in just two cleaning cycles, and it was even able to navigate around furniture that was blocking its path.

The T10 Omni is a great option for anyone who wants an automatic mop and vacuum that can empty it. The mop it comes with is as powerful as its vacuums, and it comes with a much more attractive design than the Roomba. The T10's smart features compensate for the absence of a remote. You can easily start or stop a cleaning cycle or schedule it and alter the settings of your device using the app.

4. Shark ION the XL

Shark's top-of-the-line self emptying vaccum-emptying robotic vacuum The ION XL is an excellent choice for people looking for hands-free cleaning that has a high level of performance. The robot vacuum has large bins that can store a month's worth of dirt and the base can be programmed to automatically empty it at the end of every cleaning session for storage that lasts longer. The ION XL robot vacuum is one of the most versatile on the market. It can clean carpets and hard floors. You can control the robot using an app or voice commands and you can even create a map of your home to clean each room on demand. The robot can also maneuver around furniture and can move through carpeted and Self Empty cordless vacuum stairs effortlessly.

I tried the ION XL using our standard debris test in a family room and kitchen with hardwood floors and area rug. It did a great job vacuuming, removing debris and pet hair from the floors, and picked up some of the most stubborn crumbs on carpets. It also did a great job moving and didn't hit my bar stools as did the iRobot J7+ did in this test. The only drawback is that the ION XL can't detect toys, cords and shoes that may be in its path so you will have to clean your home prior to using this vacuum to stay clear of these items.

The ION XL robot cleaner isn't as sophisticated as the iRobot J7+, but it's a great option if you do not want to spend over $500 on a robot. It's better than the eufy RoboVac 11S, in many ways. It's simpler to maintain and has lower monthly costs. It is also better at vacuuming bare flooring and removing pet fur, but it isn't as effective on carpets with a low or higher-pile carpet.

It's not as sturdy, but it's still an excellent option. The ION XL has a large bin capacity, it is controlled via an app and voice commands, and is simple to keep up with maintenance. It is also an affordable price.
