1. iRobot s8

This smart robot mop and vacuum is a great choice for many households. It is able to vacuum and mop well and has a great navigation system that includes both GPS and laser sensors, and comes with a variety of controls and features accessible via the app. It has a handy feature that lets you create cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, and Keep Out zones in areas that you don't wish it to go. It also receives software updates, just like all Roomba products, that make it better over time.

It's expensive but is also among the most sophisticated robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It has a powerful battery that can clean an entire home in less than two hours. It also switches between mopping and vacuuming with the press of one button. It will automatically empty the bin of dust above its charging station, unlike other self cleaning robot vacuum-emptying robots that require you to empty it after each run.

It also has many other features, including intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses cameras in conjunction with processor-powered smarts to recognize obstacles. It's not often tripped or stuck during a cleaning cycle. In my tests it was the best in avoiding objects such as power cables. It is not as accurate in detecting pet waste or other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

While Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in budget robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model that could also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that comes with a variety of modern features and can compete with much more expensive models.

The laser navigation system is the most important feature of this machine. The X8 utilizes the laser mapping system, which is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to construct a comprehensive picture of your space and stores multiple maps, which is ideal for multi-floor homes.

The X8 is still a decent vacuum for floors that are not clean, slinging debris under its side brushes and into its 400ml dust bin with ease. The Tyres of the X8, despite their circular shape, are good at grabbing corners and edges. Our tests revealed that it was able to remove 90 percent of the fur on hard floors.

There's a basic mopping option that utilizes the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is great for spills that are not serious, but you cannot regulate the amount of water it uses. It does a good job of removing hair from pets. It has a higher rate of pick-up than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It has a beautiful design, superb navigation, and excellent cleaning power. It has a few oddities in its operation, which prevent it from being considered the best smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot and models, the RX2 has a dual-sensor mapping system that utilizes a LIDAR sensor to map an area and two 3D scanning cameras that can detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. After the room has been identified it is possible to designate virtual no-go areas and preferred sections to the robot. The RX2 has superior sensors that can detect furniture and other obstructions in a flash. This budget robovac looks just like a typical quietest robot vacuum, but it's upgraded in performance and features. Its intelligent mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses them to avoid obstacles and navigate. It can even detect common obstacles such as power cords and furniture legs in real time. The combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor that keeps the vacuum away from steps makes it one our most agile vacuums.

In our tests, it effortlessly could climb over the thick shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation capabilities were impressive. Its composite score for top Robot Vacuum cleaner flooring and carpet beats the competition and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of the dirt and embedded dog hair from our lab test samples.

The controls are more basic than those of the competition's. There's a clean button at the top, and you can start it using the app or via voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set a schedule for weekly or daily cleaning, set no-go zones, and view its cleaning history. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easily accessible for emptying, and taking out the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

Eufy 11S is a great option if you're looking for a vacuum cleaner that is easy to use and has no frills at a low cost. The 11S, just like other robots will also suckup some items, including cords and top robot vacuum cleaner cat toys. The manufacturer suggests that you can prevent this from happening by keeping these items off the ground and using a cord organizer whenever possible. It also suggests that you clean the dustbin, change the filters, and wash or change the brushes as required.

Roomba 990 by iRobot

The Roomba is iRobot’s flagship robot vacuum. It's expensive however it's top robot vacuum cleaner-performing and arguably the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self-navigation and environmental mapping is something to behold. It also comes with more advanced automation features than most competitors, such as the ability to set virtual boundary lines with its mobile app. Although the application is a bit slow and the 980 may spin a bit when rolling over cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.

We love the 980 due to its iAdapt2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneity mapping and localisation (or vSLAM) to remember your home's floor plan. It will then use that information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for every cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum cleaner than the majority of high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from carpets and hard floors and an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The floor tracking sensor assists in navigating around furniture, along edges and on steps. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will also return to the base station for simple recharging in between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as impressive as those of other robot vacuums. However, it is a reliable and solid machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
