1. iRobot s8

This smart robot vacuum and mop combo is a fantastic choice for many homes. Awarded for its quiet and efficient home appliances, Miele's RX2 robot vacuum has excellent cleaning power, stunning design and excellent navigation. However, it has a few operational oddities that prevent it from being ranked as the best overall smart robot vacuum.

The RX2 is equipped with a dual-sensor mapping system which uses LIDAR to map an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoiding obstacles (such as furniture legs or pet waste). After the room has been identified it is possible to designate virtual no-go areas and favorite sections to the robot. You can also change the cleaning modes, initiate cleaning manually, or view live feeds of the cameras onboard from the main screen.

The RX2 has excellent sensors that can identify furniture and other obstructions instantly. And its sweeping and suction power are top of the line and cleans up surface debris from medium-pile carpeting and embedded dust on floors that are unfinished. It's not the fastest robotics on the market. It's not the greatest climber, and it has problems with transition strips made of steel.

This budget robovac that is similar to other, but it has some extra features and better performance. Its intelligent mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home, and uses them to navigate around obstacles and avoid them. This combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor to keep the vacuum off steps makes it one our most agile vacuums.

In our tests, it easily could climb over the thick shag rugs and didn't get stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation skills were impressive. Its composite score for flooring and carpet beats the competition and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded dog hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than the competition's. There's a clean button at the top and you can choose to start it by using the app or via voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for weekly or daily cleaning, set no-go zones, and see the history of its cleaning. Covered in stylish dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is easily accessible for emptying, and taking out the filters is also easy.

5. Eufy 11S

It will also return to the base station for simple charging between sessions. The battery life and bin capacity of the 980 aren't as impressive as those of other robot vacuums. However, it's a reliable and solid machine that will keep floors clean for many hours.
