Eufy, owned by Anker, has become an established brand in the world of robots that are budget-friendly vacuums. But it didn't provide a model that could also mop. That's changed with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive suite of advanced features that can compete with more expensive models.

The main selling point of Eufy's this machine is its laser navigation. The X8 utilizes the laser mapping system, which is more precise than previous Eufy devices. It also takes significantly less time to construct a comprehensive picture of your living space and also stores multiple maps, which is great for multi-floor homes.

The X8 is still a good vacuum on bare floors and can sling debris over its side brushes and into the 400ml dust bin with relative ease. It's not a great kitty litter scooper, however, with our tests showing it only removes about 90% of the fur from hard floors.

The basic mopping mode uses the same water reservoir as the vacuuming mode. This is ideal for spills that are not too serious, but you cannot limit the amount of water it consumes. It does, however, do an admirable job of removing pet hair, with a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is renowned for its quiet, efficient appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system, and excellent cleaning power. There are a few niggles in its operation that prevent it from being considered the top smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot, the RX2 features dual-sensor mapping that uses the LIDAR sensor to map an area and a pair of 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or clean pet waste) in real-time. 4. Shark ION

This budget robovac looks just like a typical robot, but it's upgraded in performance and features. Its smart mapping system generates 2D and 3-D maps of your home and uses to navigate and stay clear of obstructions. It is able to detect common obstacles like furniture legs and power cords in real-time. This combination of sensors, together with a bump sensor and an infrared drop sensor that keeps it off stairs make it one of the fastest vacs we've tried.

It was able to walk over carpets with thick shags and did not get stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring beat the competition, and it was able to pick up 98.5 percent of pet hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than the competition's. There's a clean button at the top, and you can start it with the app or voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule weekly or daily cleanings, set up no-go zones, and look up the history of cleaning. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and looks attractive in your home. One thing we love about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It uses this information to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a more efficient vacuum than most high-end robots.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that grab dirt from floors and carpets and the spinning brush that sweeps debris into the robotic vacuum cleaner with mop Robot Mop (Cadplm.Co.Kr)’s bin. Although the 980's battery lifespan and bin size aren't quite as good as those of other robot vacuums, it's a solid and reliable machine that will keep your floors spotless for hours and hours.
